"School can get really boring sometimes."

"It is always boring. The only reason why I go to school is because I get to meet my friends. Anyways, what about Brooke and Phoenix? I suppose they aren't talking to you."

"Yeah. They aren't. Not like it matters much. They weren't exactly my friends. We just kinda talked about schoolwork and all." Raiden shrugged implying that he didn't care.

Esmeralda nodded gravely. "What about your father?" Raiden asked in a low voice.

"What about him?"

"I mean are you guys talking or not? Something like that. Yeah." Raiden said awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.

"He and Mama do talk. But not me, I am not talking to him. I'm actually scared of him now. I'd like to keep my distance from him. Mama says that they've sorted things out but I'd rather stay on the safe side and be away from him."

"Esme talk to him. Not talking will only create more distance and misunderstandings between you people."

"No, Ray. Not now. Not at all." Esmeralda said firmly. A part of her was scared.

"Please doll." Raiden pleaded only to receive a 'no' from his best friend.

Raiden sighed and hugged Esmeralda kissing her on the forehead and then on her cheek, trying to comfort her.

"Ray, I wanted to go to the old, abandoned railway track."

"Ah, that one. Okay. I'll come too."

"No, Ray. You have a quiz tomorrow. Prepare for it. Besides you're grounded, remember? You go to your home and I'll go on my own." Esmeralda said when she realized that Raiden was about to protest further.

Raiden pouted and kissed Esmeralda on the tip of her nose before they broke their hug.

"Bye." Esmeralda kissed Raiden on the cheek making him smile and ran in the opposite direction towards the railway track, unaware of two eyes watching her.

The abandoned railway track was one of the most beautiful places in the town.

The orange-red autumn leaves were falling from the trees adorning the track and the path around it. The trees were closed together making it look a little like a canopy.

It was a beautiful and serene place.

Esmeralda walked through the fallen leaves and on the track admiring its beauty.

"What are you doing here?"

Esmeralda turned around to be faced by Andres who was standing a few feet away from her, hands in the pockets of his jeans.

She was surprised to see him here. Was he following her?

When Esmeralda turned around Andres' heart did a leap when he saw that her face was devoid of any emotions that suggested that she still liked him but her light blush said otherwise.

He smirked mentally. That cute cherry blush of hers always gave her away.

"I should be the one asking you this question. What are you doing here?"

"Someone like you can't be trusted. Who knows why you came here? Besides, where's your little partner in crime?"

Esmeralda rolled her eyes and said, "I came here to be alone. And Raiden's grounded. Besides, where are your little partners? Are they too frightened to face me or are they out somewhere practicing their tough facial expressions?"
