"Get up, you two," someone says.

I jerk awake, and I am suddenly at a sitting position, so is Lamar, his fingers enclosed around my hand.

There is a man in the door-way, his clothes layered with dirt, rips and tears appear with a random placement over his clothing.

"We're going to Candor," he says. "Thought you might want to join."

"We aren't supposed to go to Candor until tomorrow," Lamar says. I pull the watch he gave me out of my pocket and check the time -- 3:27.

"Well," the factionless man says. "Angelina says that after we get to Candor, the train cars will be guarded, and no one will be aloud on them, so no transportation by train, you'd have to walk."

"Why?" I ask, looking up at him.

        "Her orders," he shrugs.

"Let's go," Lamar says. "We have to get there, if we don't we'll be stuck here."

        I nod, standing up. "Okay."

Lamar follows me as we walk, my hand enclosed in his. We push through the exit doors and see it -- the train.

We start running, he pulls me along with him when his hand latches onto the handle. I throw my arm around his neck, his free arm around my waist. He holds me close to him. "You ready?" He whispers in my ear.

        "Yes," I say.

        I'm going home.

He pulls us into the train car, right into a seat.

        Right across from her.

        Angelina.

"Hello, children," she says. "We're on our way back to Candor."

"We know that," Lamar says, his arm still around my waist. With his free hand, he takes both of my hands.

"I hope you enjoy the ride," she says with a wide smile.

        Lamar is asleep.

I can't get myself to join him. Not with her around.

Angelina is still awake. She says nothing.

She doesn't even glare at me.

I hold Lamar's hand in mine. I set it on his leg and stand up. I stand in the door-way of the train car, my hand closes lightly around the handle.

I see the Dauntless compound pass by us, the building ledge I had jumped off of to enter Dauntless compound brings back memories. When I had met Alice and Grace. Capture the flag. When Lamar first kissed me.

When I awaken from my trance, her hands are on my shoulders, pushing me out of the train car. I am too shocked to scream.

The air is knocked out of me when I hit the ground. I tumble down a small hill, my knees crash into a tree just before I stop tumbling.

I cry out when the pain comes. It is in my shoulder, my side, my knees, my head. I use the tree to carefully pull myself to my feet. I see where I am. I am close to Amity. I can even see their head quarters. I limp towards another tree, but I fall over. I take in a deep breath and stand again. I use the trees for support as I limp towards the Amity head quarters. I move as fast as I can, even though the pain is becoming unbearable.

As I walk, I stumble every few steps, nearly falling but finding a tree to catch myself on. A sound escapes me every time I fall against the trees, a pained one.

When I finally reach Amity head quarters, I am releaved. I ignore the sets of eyes following me as I push through the doors.

People dressed in yellow and red come to me as I begin to collapse. They hold me up and speak to me reassuringly. I tell them I'm alright and just wanted to know if I could see my father.

"Stella," he says. "What happened to you?"

"Dad, I'm fine," I tell him.

"No, your not," he says. "You had to get your side wrapped. What happened?"

"Look, all that happened was . . . I kind of got pushed off a train."

        "What? Why? Who?"

"Um . . . Some girl from the factionless, she hates me. Somehow I ended up in the same car as her, she caught me off guard and pushed me off."

"Well, that makes sense, the factionless kind of  . . . Lost their minds a few years ago."

"Look, Dad, I just wanted to come here to make sure your all right, and . . . I'm heading back to Candor, I . . . Wanted to let you know that."

"Thank you, Stella, but . . . I -- I don't think I'll be going with you, if that's what your intention had been. I don't think I really can, not after the war and everything."

        "I -- I understand," I say. "I'm going to go now, I -- I'll miss you, Dad."

"I'll miss you, too, Stella," he says. "I hope I'll see you again someday."

"You too," I turn towards the door and push through it. I walk down the hallway and push through another set of doors and I am back outside.

As I head towards the direction of Candor, I notice the sun is still out, nice and bright. I check my watch  6:32.

I move as fast as I can, determined to get to Candor as soon as possible.

I find myself ignoring the pain, and running. Running.

Every time my feet hit the ground, a bolt of pain shoots up my legs. I ignore it and run faster. It becomes hard to breath, I begin to take in breaths from my mouth.

        *        *        *

It is a long time before I have to stop, but the Candor houses are coming into view slowly.

When I catch my breath, I start to run again. Something hits my foot and I hit the ground. The air is knocked out of me, I landed on my side, I cry out.

        "Stella?" Lamar's voice calls out.

I can't speak, the words clog in my throat. So, I groan and try to push myself to my feet.

"Stella, oh my God," he says, I feel his hands on my arms. "What happened to you? Where have you been?"

I clutch his shoulders for stability as I feel light-headed. I pained sound escapes me and my breath gets heavy. He holds me as I slowly fall to the ground, he trys to keep me up, but I collapse against him, and then I'm gone.
