I gasp, a bolt of pain shoots down my arm. I bite my lip to avoid crying out. I hear loud voice next to me- Lamar.

I strangled sound escapes my throat. Then, the pain eases, Nate's hand no longer applies pressure to my wound. I hear muffled voices, there seems to be an argument occurring. Although my vision is blurred, I push myself to my feet, only to be knocked down by an unseen force.

I hear a familiar voice yell something. "Don't let her live! She'll only continue to betray both her factions!" It seems to be Nate's voice.

"She hasn't betrayed anyone!" Another voice shouts- Lamar. "Just leave her alone! All you've done to her is hurt her and pain doesn't affect anything!"

"It certainly affected your behavior as a child, and Stella has been silenced, maybe it'll work on you now."

There is a faint smacking sound and a few grunts. After a few moments, I hear Lamar's voice just above me. "Stella." He says. "Stella, can you hear me?"

"Yes." I say- or try to. The sound that escapes me sounds more like a groan.

I feel Lamar's hands around my arms, pulling me up towards him. As soon as I am on my feet, I fall again, falling against his chest. The pain in my shoulder hasn't eased much, and the waves of pain have washed over my whole body, leaving the urge to scream caught in my throat, held down by shock.

After a moment, I feel his arms under my knees and behind my neck. My vision remains blurred, although, I see a face above mine, and immediately recognize it as Lamar's.

I feel a sudden dizziness, a thin string pulling me towards sleep- relief.

Lamar carries me back down the hall and lays me on a bed, I recognize the room as his. I look at him through my blurred vision.

I faintly hear his voice as he whispers "I'm sorry."

"No, don't be." I say to him, my voice weak.

After a few moments, I hear him say "Stella, you need to sleep, we can talk later." He turns away from me.

As he starts to walk away, I reach out and grab his wrist. He looks back at me. I want to ask him to stay with me but a lump forms in my throat, if I speak I will likely start to cry. He raises his eyebrows at me in confusion, then, after a moment, turns back towards me and sits on the bed next to my feet.

I release his wrist. "Thank you." I say quietly.

He only stares in response.

There is a long silence.

Suddenly, he pushes himself to his feet and, before I can stop him, leaves the room. He has left me with my mind as company. I already know, after a while, the part of me that wants only to die, will return.

Sorry this chapter is so short. I thought there needed to be a shorter chapter sometime soon and I thought this was a great place to end this chapter. The next chapter will be longer. If you have questions about the story, message me and I'll answer them as soon as I can.
