On the train a man, accompanied by a few others and two women, stares at us.

"Oh, look," the man says. "A happy couple has come to make a few factionless feel better. That's not going to work, we can't feel better. So, I guess we'll just have to push you off, that or kill you. Your choice."

I hear Alice and Grace fall into the train car behind us.

"Oh, look," the man says. "They brought friends."

A few people behind him pull knives and guns from their pockets.

"What's it gonna be kids?" The man asks. "The shove or the kill? What'd ya choose?"

"Look," Lamar says beside me. "I don't think you want to push us off the train, or kill us. Do you have any idea who I am? I know you all know my mother. Any guesses?"

"Hmm." A few of the factionless say. Others guess names like 'Tessa Korea?' or 'Betty Crockers?' or 'Morgan Newton?' until finally 'Angelina Polar?'

"Yes," Lamar says. "I am Lamar Polar."

It shocks me that he would reveal his identity like that, but he had to someday, right?

"Well," the factionless man in front says to him. "Then we know someone who wants to see you."

Once again, my ears are filled with the sound of the train riding on the tracks, occasionally shrieking with a scream to horrible, I cover my ears with my hands to muffle it.

I, again, lean against Lamar, trying to sleep. I remember the train ride to Amity, leaning against Lamar, my father sleeping across from me. The memory makes my heart sink, and I suddenly feel cold.

The factionless are lost in a conversation, occasionally requesting my name, and if my father approved Lamar. Every time they ask me, I have to hold myself back from punching them, and pretend to be asleep.

Alice's eyes seem to be glued to Lamar, as if she were studying him. It makes me want to slap her, the way she is looking at him.

Grace's eyes are locked on the floor, her mind seems to be flooded with thoughts, and her eyes have a deep sadness within them.

"Well," the factionless man says. " 'Bout time to be gettin' off this train of emotions." He chuckles. "Since we don't know you," he says, gesturing to me, Alice, Grace, and Lamar. "You'll be jumpin' off first."

Lamar stands, and I follow, his arm wraps around my waist. Alice and Grace stand, too. Alice jumps first, her eyes full of anger. Why would she be angry? But the answer is obvious -- she's thinking about Anthony.

Grace jumps next, almost immediately after Alice.

Lamar grabs the handle on the side of the train-car. Just before he pulls us out of the car, I am able to throw my arms around him to keep from falling. For a moment we hang there, dangling by his arm. He touches his fore-head to mine, he does not say anything, neither do I. We just stare into each other's eyes, searching for answers to our questions.

Our lips brush, with an effect that leave mine tingling.

He moves his mouth so it is right next to my ear. "Ready?" He whispers.

"Yes," I say to him, just loud enough for him to hear. Our eyes lock for another second, and then, we are on the ground, he is on his feet, and I am on my knees. He pulls me up.
