I never thought I was that petty.
But, boy, was I wrong.
Even with all those years tucked inside my pockets, I never grew up. I ran my hands up my face and through my hair.
"Ava?" I look up from my hair to see a familiar guy.
"Ellerey?"
He laughs, "Close. Galven."
I snap my fingers, "I always get you two mix up."
"Good. Usually, I get mix up with Larry." Ellerey, Galven, and Larry aren't brothers, but they all look the same. I don't know how that's possible, but their mamas got some explaining to do. Then again, if they find out they are somehow brothers, I'm sure they'll jump for joy. They seem to be those types.
I smile, "What are you doing here?"
"The dance team has an hour of practice here. We're dancing at the winter dance. You're going?" He asks.
"Yeah."
Galven grins, "Of course you are."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Come on, Ava. It would be a surprise if you didn't go." He took a seat beside me, "So, who's the lucky fellow? Is it that little guy I saw you with during the autumn festival?"
"Eli is not little."
Galven lifts two hands, "I didn't mean to insult your boyfriend."
"He's not my boyfriend."
He cocks his head, "You guys aren't dating?"
"I'm not seeing anyone."
"Then, who are you going to the winter dance with?"
"I don't believe that's any of your business."
Galvin scratches his neck, "This may be a long shot."
Then, the realization occurred. "It is a very long shot."
"So, you're telling me."
"To not shoot." I'm not blind. I do notice Galvin's interest in me.
Galvin clinches his chest, "Ouch. I appreciate the honesty, though."
