A V A
I rush my hands down my jeans. The veins inside my head pump harder than usual.
"You okay?" Mary asked.
"Yeah," I responded. "Just a bit sleepy."
For nearly two months, I've had a difficult time sleeping. Whenever I'm not sorting through papers or talking to someone, I keep thinking about how to react when I meet Eli again.
It's not like we are in a bad relationship.
I mean, the last time I saw him was when he had a heart attack after I practically screamed at him.
It's not too bad, right?
Except at the part where he thinks I cheated on him.
"Oh, shit." I lowered myself into the chair.
The plane ride back to our hometown was a lot faster than I would have liked. Before I knew it, we had luggage in our hands and families at the end of the terminal. Mom and Dad give us all tight hugs.
"Hi, sweetheart," Mina's dad says.
Mina's eyes went from him to Seth's parents. Simultaneously, they waved at her.
Mina attempted to give them the best smile in the world, but it was useless.
"Hi, Mr.Kenzie. Mr and Mrs.Carrillo," I said. They're messing around with her dad, not mine.
They returned my greetings.
"What are you two doing here?" I asked. They don't know that I know, or at least that's what we're all pretending.
"Actually," Mrs.Carrillo says, "We're here for Seth."
Seth?
"And speak of the devil. Seth!"
Steadily, we all turned our heads.
"Holy shit," Mina said under her breath.
My eyes widen slightly at the sight of Seth Carrillo. With a duffel bag in one hand and a water bottle in the other, he made his way towards us.
The last time I saw Seth in person was when I called him about the whole Luke's situation before he decided to skip off into the Amazon. Crazy, right?
Something about wanting an adventure.
And now, he's back.
I hate to admit it, but finer than ever.
Mina tucked her lips into her mouth to prevent herself from acting out. It isn't the time or place to drool over a man, particularly not with Trevon staring at her the whole time.
I don't blame her, though.
Holy shit.
Seth stopped in front of his parents. His Dad happily greeted him with a smile, while his Mom smacked his firm chest, shouting at him to write more often.
They don't have reception in the Amazon.
Seth turned towards us, "Sup, Makee."
I shake my head, "Come here." Seth and I exchange hugs.
Although Seth did get extremely attractive, it doesn't mean I'll fall head over heels for him.
"Trev, how ya doing man?" Seth asked.
Trevon moved his glare away from Mina and towards Seth, "Good," he responded dully. Trevon's eyes went from Seth's face towards his pecs.
I elbowed Trevon's ribs, "Stare at him any harder and we'll-"
