Xingsi's jacket was hung on the chair, his long sleeved shirt folded to his elbow, he was sitting down with his face cupped in his hand, tired and exhausted.
Yongjie studied him before calling his name. "Xingsi."
Xingsi raised his head to see his lover standing beside him. He quickly stood up and held Yongjie's hands.
"I'm sorry," he managed to say as he stared at Yongjie.
Yongjie squinted his eyes, processing the situation. "What happened?"
"Your step dad," Xingsi tried to explain. "He was hit by a car and got unconscious."
"You called my mom?"
"I believe the nurse did. I'm truly sorry."
"You could have told me, I waited for you."
"Everything happened so fast, I couldn't think of anything than to save his life."
Yongjie's eyes trailed to Xingsi's arm. He saw the middle of his elbow swollen and red. "Did you hurt yourself?"
"No, I donated my blood."
Yongjie swallowed. "What?"
"I'm a universal donor."
"Xingsi you shouldn't have,"
"I understand. You're not blood related to Hong. After they tested me, they said my blood would match his since I'm a universal donor."
"I thought something happened to you. I was really worried Xingsi."
"I'm sorry I should have called you earlier. My phone ran out of battery too."
Xingsi pulled Yongjie for a tight hug. Now he could breathe. He leaned in and placed a kiss on Yongjie's lips.
Just then Fu Yongjie's mom trotted towards them.
"Oh my gosh, how is he?" she exclaimed.
"He is stable now," Xingsi replied.
"Sorry, I came late."
Xingsi nodded. He felt his job there was done. He picked his jacket and made to leave.
"Excuse me! Xingsi, you saved my husband. How can I repay you?" Yongjie's mom asked.
"No I just happened to be close by, that's all. You don't need to pay me," Xingsi replied.
"I will surely tell Hong the man he despised so much saved his life."
"No that's absolutely unnecessary," Xingsi argued.
"Huh, I will tell him that, I can't wait to see the look on his face." Yongjie's mom sighed and followed a nurse down the corridor.
Yongjie smiled. "Mom can be stubborn."
"I know right. It's already late and we can't go back to the restaurant. Where would you like to go?"
"Um..." Yongjie thought for a second. "Rainbow bridge."
"Good Idea. Let's go."

Yongjie and Xingsi stood in the middle of the rainbow bridge, glittering in red and yellow lights. The ambience it created from a distance was breathtaking.
"I'm sorry the night didn't go as planned, but I think this is so much better," Xingsi inhaled deeply. "What do you think?"
"Mm. It is so much better."
Xingsi dipped his hand in his grey jacket pocket and brought out the bracelet. "I just wanted to congratulate you on your success. And here is a gift from me to you."
Xingsi held up Yongjie's hand and fastened the bracelet around his wrist. Yongjie stared at the bracelet for a second. "Where do you see us, maybe ten years from now?"
"Happily married..." Xingsi blurted out, then he laughed. "I mean ten years is a long time to keep dating, right?"
"Xingsi?"
"My love..."
"There's something I need to tell you."
Xingsi's eyes brightened. "What? Are you alright? Or you didn't like the bracelet?"
Yongjie shook his head. "It's more serious than that."
Xingsi wondered what Yongjie meant by that. His heart skipped a beat when he saw Yongjie drop down on his knee, holding a small ring case in his hand.
"Xingsi I really love you," Yongjie started. "I don't want this love to stop anytime. That is why I want to make it permanent." Yonjie swallowed and blinked as he stared at Xingsi's beautiful and radiant face. He pulled the ring case open, revealing a set of two shiny silver rings. "Will you marry me?"
"Fu Yongjie!" Xingsi whispered, still trying to make sense of the situation.
