Yongjie woke up to an empty bed. Bright sunlight seeped through the window into the room. He stood up when he heard noises coming from the kitchen.
He walked around the room to the kitchen area and took a peek. There he saw Xingsi preparing omelette and toast.
Yongjie leaned by the door frame and crossed his arms over his naked chest watching Xingsi who seemed to have not noticed his presence. "Hey good morning,"
Xingsi turned around. "You're awake?" he asked as he flipped the sizzling egg in the frying pan.
"What are you doing?" Yongjie asked as he covered the distance between them.
"Preparing breakfast."
Yongjie nodded slightly. He wrapped his arms around Xingsi and rested his head on his back, pausing at interval to place a kiss on Xingsi's bare back.
Xingsi inhaled as Yongjie's hand roved over his chest seductively. He managed to get transfer the fried eggs to a plate. He turned around and faced Yongjie.
Yongjie noticed something off with Xingsi. As if he was rejecting his hugs.
"I got a call from your mom this morning." Xingsi announced.
"Why? What did she say?"
Xingsi breathed. "She said your step dad is inviting me over."
Yongjie raised his eyebrows in annoyance. "You're not going." he walked out of the kitchen.
"Well, I was thinking the same, but what if he wants to see me for other reasons?"
"What other reasons will a homophobic man have to see you. If you want to go, then I'm going with you."
"Yongjie?"
"I have to protect you, I can't allow you go over there alone."
Xingsi held Yongjie's hand for a moment. "I have a feeling it will be fine." he placed a kiss in Yongjie's palms and smiled.
"You think so?"
"Mm."

"Do I look okay?" Xingsi asked for tenth time as they approached the front door to Yongjie's family home.
"You are fine and beautiful."
Yongjie tapped on the door. It flung open within seconds. His mother ushered them in with a warm welcome.
"Yongjie, you look pale. You haven't been eating properly?" Yongjie's mom asked immediately they'd settled down. "Are you sick?"
"Mom, I am not sick," Yongjie retorted.
"Don't worry I prepared your favorite."
A husky voice cleared his throat down the hallway. Xingsi and Yongjie looked up to see Mr Hong. Both stood up to greet him. Mr Hong replied with a nod and waved for them to sit down.
He settled down beside his wife. He looked stronger, but he still had a bandage tied around his head.
"How is your health?" Xingsi quickly asked out of courtesy.
Mr Hong cleared his throat again. "Getting better. Getting better. Thanks to my wife."
Xingsi nodded. While Yongjie rolled his eyes.
"I wanted to see you briefly. To thank you for saving... my life."
Shock lined Yongjie's face as he couldn't believe what he just heard.
Xingsi searched for the right words. "It's nothing sir. I just did what anyone would have done in that situation..."
"No," Hong cut in. "Not everyone would do that. I was unconscious. You could have walked away considering how I treated you before. So..." he whispered to his wife who quickly stood up and walked to the bedroom. "Just to appreciate I bought a special wine. We will be drinking to long life."
Xingsi smiled. "Thank you. I'm glad you are doing okay."
"And you?" Hong pointed to Yongjie. "You don't come home again. Too much studying?"
"Mm, too much studying..." Yongjie pouted.
"Go get Xingsi some thing to eat huh?"
Yongjie raised his eyebrows. He is a visitor too, why would Hong send him to the kitchen. Xingsi read the message across Yongjie's face and chuckled.
Mom returned with the wine and two glass cups. She opened it and filled the cup for both men.
"So you're a wedding planner?" Hong asked Xingsi as he raised his cup.
"Yes," Xingsi took his cup top, watching Mr Hong closely.
"My wife told me you were in charge of our wedding few months ago."
"Yes, my company handled the decorations."
Hong nodded as he took a sip from his cup.
"I had no idea. You see I had just gone through a nasty divorce. I must say it took a toil on me.""Oh..." Xingsi said.
Mr Hong stopped talking when Yongjie returned with a tray of food. He placed the tray on the table and sat down beside Xingsi.
He eyed Mr Hong for a while wondering what he was telling Xingsi. Without thinking he took a deep breath.
"Pa, mom, I'm officially engaged to Xingsi."
Xingsi almost spit wine from his mouth. They never planned or discussed to tell their parents about the engagement yet.
"Fu Yongjie?" Xingsi blurted out.
"Xingsi is the man I love," Yongjie continued, ignoring the surprised look on his mom's face. "I don't care if you disagree or disown me."
Xingsi widened his eyes and swallowed. He turned to look at Mr Hong. After a moment of torturing silence, Mr Hong and mom burst into laughter.
"Congratulations!" Mr Hong announced unexpectedly. "Cheers to that."
Xingsi quickly clunk his glass cup with Mr Hong as the both gulped down the remaining contents.

"Be a good boy okay?" Yongjie's mom said as she walked both men to the door
"Mom, I'm not a kid. I'm getting married." Yongjie said.
"You will always be my boy right."
Yongjie smiled.
"And you," Mom turned to Xingsi. "He is the only one I have. Sometimes he can be stubborn but Fu Yongjie has grown to be a nice young man."
"Yes, he is."
"Please take care of my son.'
"I will mom," Xingsi said.
"Okay take care of yourselves," Yongjie's mom stood in front of the house as she waved at the men.
She was relieved to see that the day went perfectly well. She wouldn't ask for more. Now that this was settled, she could finally sleep well. Also it was a surreal feeling to know that she had gained another son, Xingsi. She felt peaceful at last.
