The silent kitten

Chapter 10

I ran through the forest as fast as I could. I could still hear my parents voice telling me what happened to me. I was drenched in dragon blood.... which mixed with my blood from the wound that the dragon gave me. Everything they said sounded like a far fetched story. But I knew deep down that my parents weren't lying.

I finally stumbled to the cove and saw Amenyx cuddled up with the other dragon. A dragon just like them almost killed me and almost died on me. If it weren't for that dragon I would be normal. I would have looked just like my siblings. I felt angry at this dragon now. I wiped my hair out of my face and looked at the dragons again.

They must have heard me cause they were looking right at me. I climbed down into the cove meeting the dragons in the middle of the cove. "Did you guys smell that dragons blood in me?" I asked stupidly knowing that they couldn't answer my question. I looked at the ground with a scoff.

"You do smell like a dragon Kit, but we don't know why" I hear. My head snaps up to the two dragons who were staring at me. "D-did you just..." I stuttered out. "Yes I just talked to you" Amenyx says wile her ears give off a vibration. I looked really dumbfounded. "Your dragon side is waking up now and starting to change you" The male dragon says as he scratches his ear.

"I.... I... I need to get a clear head I am going to scream or faint or just die right now" I mumble out feeling nauseous. Amenyx stood up and threw me on her back. "Hold on" was all she said before she took off. I tried my best to hold onto her. Trust me it's not easy to hold onto a wet dragon.

She flew us up into the sky as fast as she could go. We finally breached the clouds I saw the moon. I slowly sat up on Amenyx's back and looked at the moon. "Why me?" I ask not really looking for an answer. "I don't know what happened to you to make you like this. What I can tell you is that I can help you the best I can to understand some of your abilities" Amenyx replies softly.

Her voice sound soft and sweet. Kind of like a soft butterfly flapping its wings on your cheek. Soft and tingly, but with note of sternness to it. "Can I talk to other dragons to?" I ask her tentatively as I lay on her back staring at the stars above us. "Most likely. I mean you can speak to me and that other dragon. Who's to say you can't speak to any of the other dragons out there" She replies and shudders.

"Do you want to hear what my parents told me tonight? The thing that made me..... Whatever I am" I ask her turning my head to look at her. "It might help. Knowing how you became like this and all. But if you don't want to I won't force you to tell me" She said softly. I was happy that she wasn't trying to push me to tell her.

So I told her. Everything that my parents told me. My thoughts on the matter. How I felt when I found out. Just everything that was on my mind. Even when I went to class with my siblings and fought the Gronkle. She just flew and listened to me. Occasionally she would put in a noise telling me that she was paying attention and understanding what I was telling her.

"That explains the way the Gronkle coward at you when you stared at it" Amenyx says as she banks to the left. We were heading back. We flew pretty far from Berk. When we get back it'll probably be day time. I thought to myself. I leaned over and looked at Amenyx upside down. She looked up at me and gave me a gummy grin. I smiled at her.

"For some reason you have made me feel so much better about myself Nyx. I'm happy that we became friends" I tell her as I hug my arms around her neck and nuzzled into her neck. She spun really fast all of a sudden and stopped. We were now hugging each other. She wrapped her arms tight around me and folded her wings around us and started to spin again and headed straight down towards the ocean.

I felt excited and my eyes. I felt them shift, which felt really weird. I looked at the ocean and saw fish plus a few Scauldren. Wow dragon sight was amazing! Amenyx turned me around and held me around my torso as we came closer to the ocean. She then opened her wings and caught air gliding us across the surface of the ocean. I laughed and spread my arms out and felt the spray of the ocean.

"If this is how it feels to be a dragon then I am so in!" I yell out over the sound of the waves. Amenyx shifted to let me climb back onto her back. She then started to flap and take us a little higher so that we were level with the island of Berk. "Well time to go back and face my family and new friends" I say getting a little nervous.

"You will be fine Kit. Your parents protected you for so long cause they love you. Your siblings from the sounds of them will probably think that you are cool" Amenyx says as we arrive at the cove. When we land the other dragon comes running up with a smile. "How was the flight? Did you calm down? Are you ok now? If not we can play!" The dragon started saying excitedly.

I giggled at the dragon who was wagging his tail at me. Both dragons then sat down on their hind legs and looked behind me. I then felt a hand on my shoulder. I freaked out a little and turned ready to fight whoever was behind me. It turned out to be Hiccup. I relaxed and smiled shyly at him. I felt my eyes change back to normal.

He looked mesmerized for a few moments. I cocked my head to the side in wonder. He snapped out of it and chuckled nervously. "I came looking for you" He shyly said as he rubbed his arm. "Why?" I asked him. "W-why? Well because you got some shocking news. And and the look you gave me last night before you ran off. You looked terrified and confused. And you looked like you could use a shoulder to lean on" He said the last part really quietly.

I smile at the boy in front of me. My first friend that I made after sneaking away from my home...... well human friend. I put my hand on Hiccups shoulder. He looks at me then grunts as I pull him into a hug. He was stiff at first but then relaxed and hugged me back. "Lets go to class" I pull away and look at Hiccup. He looked unsure but then smiled and turned while saying "Last one there is a rotten dragon egg!" as he took off. "Hey no fair!" I yell as I run after him.
