The silent kitten

Chapter 13

We arrived at the cove. I turn to Hiccup to see he had a shield. I giggled. He looked really scared. I ran to the stream that leads to the pond in the cove. I grab a fish out of the water and walk back to Hiccup. "Here. When you go in there give this to him" I tell him handing him the fish. I walk over to the cove and whistle. Amenyx flies up and lands next to me.

I turn to Hiccup to see he was staring at Amenyx. "This could be you with that dragon down there" I tell him pointing to the dragon who was sniffing around. "I'll sit up here and watch so you won't have to worry about being eaten" I tell him with a smile on my face. He gulped really loud. He started making his way down into the cove. I sat down next to Amenyx on the edge of the cliffs surrounding the cove. I put my hand on Amenyx's head and watched the boy get stuck with his shield in the rocks.

I giggled at the way he was trying to pry the shield from the rocks. He slipped under it and grabbed the fish again. He slowly walked further into the cove. He was looking around and didn't see the dragon who was perched up on a rock formation. The dragon was watching the boy as he walked further into the middle of the cove.

The dragon started to crawl down from his perch. He unfurled his wings a little and looked at the boy. Hiccup finally saw the dragon and gasped while backing up. The dragon finished climbing down from his perch. He sniffed the air and growled at Hiccup. I lightly growled at the dragon who gave me a glance. He then looked back at Hiccup. Hiccup held the fish out to the dragon unsure as to what else to do.

The dragon sniffed a little more and walked a little closer. He trilled at the boy eyeing the fish. His pupil started to round out and he opened his mouth getting a little closer. He then backed up and growled again. Hiccup then hugged the fish. Hiccup opened his vest to reveal a dagger. Big mistake. The dragon growled at the dagger. Hiccup went to grab the dagger causing the dragon to growl at him again. Hiccup slowly grabbed the dagger and dropped it on the ground by his feet. Hiccup then picked it up with his foot and threw it into the pond.

I smiled. That was a smart move. I watched as the dragon then sat down looking happy. Hiccup held the fish out to the dragon and him slowly made its way up to him reaching for the fish with his mouth. "Huh toothless. I could have sworn you had......What?!" The dragon then let his teeth down and grabbed the fish and ate it. He finished the fish and licked his lips. "Teeth" Hiccup finished. The dragon then licked his lips again and looked at Hiccup.

After Hiccup finished his statement the dragons eyes dilated and he stalked towards the nervous boy. "Uh uh no no no" Hiccup was saying as the dragon backed him up against a rock. I hopped down from the edge and surprisingly didn't hurt myself. I slowly walked up to them just watching. "I don't have anymore" Hiccup said as the dragon continued to stare at him.

I walk past the boy and dragon drawing their attention. I walked up to the pond. I take off my boots and roll my leggings up to my knees. I wade into the pond and stand still watching the fish swim around me. I jab my hand down and catch a fish. I hold it and turn towards the male dragon. "Here boy catch" I say as I toss the fish to the dragon. He jumps up and catches the fish and eats it.

I toss one to Hiccup. "Here give him another one he might like you more. Maybe then you can name him" I tell him as I turn around and repeatedly catch a few more tossing them to Amenyx then walked back to shore and dried off. The dragon came up to Hiccup and started to retch which truthfully made me feel really sick. It didn't help that Amenyx was doing the same thing. They finally coughed up a fish body without the head. I looked at it then the dragon unsure of what to do. I look at Hiccup and see that he also has a fish body in his hands.

The dragon and Amenyx looked at me and Hiccup then the fish body and us again. I hesitantly picked the fish up and looked at the dragons. Amenyx perked up her ears and licked her lips and continue to look at me. I hesitantly brought the fish up to my lips and took a bite Hiccup copied me.

Hiccup hesitantly swallowed it and squeaked out "Yum" What happened next shocked me. It actually tastes really good. I looked down at the fish and took another bite. It tasted like, I don't know, it just tasted so right. I looked up at Amenyx who was giving me a big toothless grin. I finished eating the rest of the fish.

"That was really gross. I don't know how you ate that fish without being sick" Hiccup says looking green. "Truthfully...... it tasted really good. Like amazingly good" I state a little disturbed. Hiccups face turned even more green. "Please don't eat like that in front of me again. I'm begging you" He groans out.

We look at the dragons. Hiccup is still holding his fish body and smiles at the dragon. The dragon started to copy and tries to smile which looked adorable. I giggled. Hiccup then stood up slowly. He then stretches his hand out to the dragon. The dragons face turned down and he let out a growl. And he glided away from Hiccup. I think he was trying to fly but he fell on the other side of the pond.

I sat down on a rock and watched the boy walk over to the dragon. Hiccup was sitting about four feet away from the dragon who had made a fire circle and was laying on it. The dragon saw the boy and turned and put his tail in front of his face. Hiccup scooted closer trying to touch the dragon. I giggled as Hiccup stood up really fast and walked away after being caught by the dragon. The dragon then walked off and slept like a bat in a tree.

A little while later Hiccup and I were sitting on a rock together. Hiccup was drawing a picture of the nightfury. The dragon had walked up behind us and watched Hiccup doodle out the nightfury. The dragon then looked around and ran off. We looked up to see the dragon had broken off a branch and was dragging it around on the ground. Amenyx looked down at me and went to grab her own stick.

Both dragons started to make scribbles on the ground. They stopped and looked at us then did a few more scribbles. They hit us in the head with the branches which caused me to laugh. When the dragons finished Hiccup and I stood up and looked around us at the scribbles. Hiccup started to walk and ended up stepping on a line of the scribble which made the dragons growl at him.

Hiccup put his foot up then down and up and down on the line see the dragons growl every time he put his foot on the scribble. He then smiled and started to dance around not stepping on the lines. I joined him by stepping over the scribble line and twirling around. We were so focused on not stepping on the scribbles that Hiccup ended up almost bumping into the male dragon. I on the other hand twirled and made a face plant into Amenyx's chest.

Amenyx chuckled and wrapped her arms around me. I turn around in her arms to watch the two males. Hiccup turned around after finding himself next to the dragon. He backed up and looked at him. The dragon looked at him with big green eyes.

Hiccup slowly lifted his hand. Every time he came close to the dragon the dragon growled and Hiccup pulled his hand away. Hiccup looked down and closed his eyes. He slowly put his hand out to the dragon leaving his hand extended. The boy was showing trust to the dragon. The dragon slowly put his snout into the boys hand and pulled away after a few moments. The dragon then huffed and ran off.

I look up to the sky. "We should probably get going now" I tell Hiccup as I put my boots back on. I say goodbye to Amenyx and I send a trill to the other dragon who walks up to Amenyx. I wave at the dragons as I push the shield out of the way. I hand it back to Hiccup. "I think this is yours" I tell him as I walk past him. "Thanks" He says as we trudge back to the village.
