The silent kitten

Chapter 25

After the whole fireball scene we flew to an island close by. "Lets have dinner here today. You guys set up the fire and Amenyx and I will get the fish" I tell the boys as I stretch my hair out to form wings. "Be right back boys!" I say as I launch into the air. Amenyx follows me into the air and we fly out to the sea.

Amenyx and I had taken a bag from Hiccup to put the fish in when we caught them. "Ok Amenyx lets get our dinner" I say as I dive and catch two huge fish. Amenyx did as well and came out with a mouthful of fish. "Good job girl. Now I know I can never catch as much as you can" I laugh out. She drops the fish into the bag. "Bout two more mouthfuls and we will be full" I tell her.

She grunts and dives coming back with another mouthful. She did this a few more times until the bag was completely full. "Looks good girl lets go back to the boys they should have a fire going now" I say as we calmly fly back. We arrived to see Hiccup and Toothless sitting around a fire. "Looks like you boys did what I asked nicely" I say as I land softly.

I stumbled and started to roll losing the bag of fish. "Aaagghh!!!!" I yell as I roll into a rock. "Ow I really need to work on that" I mumble as I wait for the dragons and Hiccup to stop spinning. "Are you ok there?" Hiccup asks as he kneels in front of me. "Ya" I tell him as I shake my head. I stand up and walk over to the bag I dropped. I grabbed the fish and that fell out and tossed them to the dragons.

I grabbed four fish out of the bag and put them on sticks standing them in the ground next to the fire to cook. I took the rest of the fish and and put them in a pile between the two dragons. "Here you two go" I say as I walk over and sit by the fire cooking the fish.

Hiccup sits against Toothless still looking quite amazed by our earlier endeavors. "So what do you think of your first real time flying?" I ask Hiccup with a smirk. "It... it was incredible!" he says looking amazed. He looked over at me and smiles his big goofy smile. I smile at him with a little chuckle.

"How was flying for you?" Hiccup asks as I turn the fish. I look up to the sky in thought. "I'd have to say that it was exhilarating. It was a total shock that I could make my own wings using my hair! And I was able to fly like I had done it a thousand times. I don't know why my dragon blood is making this many changes in me. I mean I understand maybe the eyes the strength and the dragon speaking abilities. But to actually fly on my own?"

I looked at the dragons who were grunting to each other. I could hear their conversation but I didn't pay attention to it. I turned back to the fire. "Look when this all started I was unhappy with the fact that I wasn't like the rest of you. But that all changed the more I hung out with you and our dragons. The more time I spent with Amenyx and Toothless the more abilities that have shown. I will probably get even more then what I already have and that scares me a little" I say as I stare into the fire.

"Why?" Hiccup asks. "Because if I keep getting more like a dragon then I might lose my humanity" I say softly. "Now that is ridiculous" Hiccup says irritably. "You have been among everyone for almost a month now and you have shown more humanity then any other Viking I know!" Hiccup continues. He seemed to be getting a little to worked up to me. "Like seriously how many people do you know besides Gobber and my dad would save me?" He asks.

"I believe anyone who is able to will try Hiccup, but for me I didn't try I did because I wanted to. Not because I had to all because of you being the chiefs son and all" I say as I hand him a fish. At that moment Toothless and Amenyx tossed up half eaten fish bodies for Hiccup and I. "Um no thanks I'm good" Hiccup says holding his roasted fish. Little terrible terrors were flying towards us at that moment and I turned watching them land.

I picked up the two half eaten pieces and threw them to the terrible terrors. "Here you lil ones go" I say then turn back to the fire. Toothless and Amenyx were guarding their fish as the little terrors came closer. They started to fight over the half eaten fish bodies. One let out a fire blast and scared the rest off. One of the fish started to move in the fish pile and we all watched as a little terror dragged a fish out.

Toothless grabbed the fish and yanked it away from the terror. It fell on its butt. Toothless and Amenyx gave this laughing noise as the terror got up spitting out the tail and stalking towards Toothless. The little dragon opened its mouth getting ready to blast Toothless but he blasts a small blast into the little dragons mouth. The terror puffed up in the air then fell down deflating. It groaned and stumbled away.

I scooted over and sat next to Hiccup against Toothless' side. "Not so fire proof on the inside are ya?" Hiccup says. I toss a fish over to the little dragon. "Here little one" I say and lay back next to Hiccup. The little terror grabbed the fish and swallowed it. The little terror then slowly scurried over to Hiccup and I. It then went between us and laid down purring.

"Everything we know about you guys..... is wrong" Hiccup says petting its belly. I pet its head and run my finger down its spine around its spikes. It arches its back and purrs even more. "You know if there is ever a day that Berk excepts dragons I will be amazed" I say softly. "Ya the only problem is how to get the others to see what we see" Hiccup says looking into the fire. "We will figure it out. I know we will" I say.

We get up after we finish eating and clean up before we head out. "Lets go back to the cove before it gets dark" I say as I grab the bag and fold it up shoving it into the saddle pocket. "I want to be able to spend a little time in the forest before we have to head back to Berk" I tell Hiccup as he fidgets with the saddle straps. "Ok then lets head back" Hiccup says as he mounts Toothless.

"I'm gonna practice my wings some more" I say to Amenyx who just grunts and walks to the edge. Toothless and Hiccup go to the edge as well and I walk up between them. I feel my hair turn into wings again. "Ok ready to go" I say stretching my wings out. And with that we all jumped off the edge and started to fly towards Berk.
