The silent kitten

Chapter 14

We arrived back at the village late into the evening when the rest of the Vikings put the torches up. I looked around at all of the buildings and just enjoy the moment of walking around with Hiccup. I then saw my brother and sister with the rest of the group. I grabbed Hiccups hand and led him over to the group. "Hey guys where are you going?" I ask as we came up to the group.

"We are about to go eat and hear some of Gobbers stories on one of the look outs. Wanna come lil sis?" Tuff asks as he wraps his arm around my shoulder. "Sure but you need a bath when we get home" I tell him as I move his arm and step away from him. "The stench you are releasing could knock out a dragon. Trust me I would know" I say pointing to my nose. Everyone laughs as Tuffnut just pouts. "Fine but you have to read me a story!" He yells out as we had walked away from him.

As Tuff ran to catch up with us everyone was talking about random stuff. I look around to find Hiccup following the group at the back. I slow down until I am walking beside him. "Hey" I say. He jumps a little. I look at him to see that he was staring at Astrid. I just shake my head at the older boy. I nudge him with my elbow. "You know if you keep staring you'll burn a hole into her" I say.

Hiccup snapped out of it and looked down at me. "Why is it so easy for me to talk to you but none of them?" He asks me as he slumps. "Maybe because we share a secret that is bringing us together" I say softly. I look up at the boy and smile. He smiles back at me and we start to laugh. "Hey quit hitting on my sister!" Ruff and Tuff shout after popping up out of no where.

"I-I wasn't h-hitting on her!" Hiccup defended. I couldn't help it I started to laugh and I couldn't stop. When I finally calmed down I looked up at the three of them who looked confused. "Hiccup is my best friend you guys. He is also my first friend. Besides he doesn't like me so worry about him hitting on me" I tell them. I chuckled a little bit before saying "Besides I just came out of our house I am soooo not ready for anything like a relationship. Right now I just want to explore and make friends and learn with you guys at the academy. And I am going to continue to hang out with Hiccup when I want to cause he is the first friend I made. Even before coming out of the house"

I then start to push them towards the rest of the group. "Now come on I want to hear some of Gobbers stories" I tell them as we proceed to the watch out post. Hiccup and Astrid were standing next to me my siblings behind me and Snotlout was next to Astrid and Fishlegs next to Hiccup. We continued to walk and talk as we arrived at our destination. We all climbed up the tower to see Gobber there with chicken, fish and sticks next to a big fire.

"Hello lads and lassies!!! Come pull up a stool next to the fire. It's time for dragon stories. "And with one twist he took my hand and swallowed it whole" Gobber said ominously as he told his story. "And I saw the look in his face. I was delicious. He must have past the word because it wasn't a month before another one took my leg" He finished by lifting his peg up. "Isn't it weird to think that your hand was inside a dragon? Like if your mind was still in control of it. You could have killed the dragon from the inside of it by crushing its heart or something" Fishlegs said.

I looked at Fishlegs with a 'are you serious?' look. Everyone else looked either bored or disgusted. I wasn't happy with his fantasy. "I swear I am so angry right now. I'll avenge your beautiful hand and your beautiful foot. I'll chop off every leg of every dragon I fight. With my face" Snotlout says while pointing to his face.

"Mmm mmm It's the wings and the tails you really want. If it can't fly it can't get away" Gobber says as he eats a chicken wing. I put my food down no longer feeling hungry. I was sitting next to Hiccup and my brother. "A down dragon is a dead dragon" I hear Gobber say as everyone agreed with him. I looked at Hiccup to see that he looked like he was thinking.

Gobber got up and yawned while stretching "Alright I'm off to bed. You should be to. Tomorrow we get to the big boys. Slowly but surly making our way up to the monstrous nightmare. But who will earn the honor of killing it?" Gobber finishes. "It's gonna be me it's my destiny" Tuffnut says as he puts his feet up. By then Hiccup and I had both snuck away.

Hiccup and I ran off and stopped paying attention to everyone up there. We ran to Hiccups house where we entered and he led the way to his room. "Never been in a boys room before.... besides my brothers. And trust me this is 100 times better then his room" I say as Hiccup walks up to his desk. He opens a journal to the page where he drew the nightfury.

He started to draw the missing fin. He looked up to me. "I have to help him. I can't let him die when I was the one who took his fin" Hiccup says with a look of determination. I smile "I like this side of you Hiccup I'll help in any way I can. And I won't take no for and answer" I tell him as he stands up again. "Alright we are going to the forge" Hiccup says as we leave his house.

We arrived at the forge and Hiccup got to work. He asked me to keep the fire hot with the billow. We started to mold and take things apart and putting things together. Until finally we made a fin that looks just like a nightfuries. We did a double check and made sure that all the pieces were solid.

We finished it pretty late but when we did we went back to Hiccups after cleaning up our mess. We double checked it a few more times. I yawned and stretched from my perch at the end of his bed. "It looks fine Hiccup we checked it a lot it's going to work" I tell the boy who is checking the fin again for the thousandth time. "Alright then lets go see it it works" He states and gets up.

I roll my eyes and follow him. On the way I stop us and grab a basket of fish from his kitchen and put it on my back. There was a weird feeling in my body that I didn't like when I did that. I wonder why I felt like that. I shrug it off and walk out the door with a confused Hiccup. "Distraction" Is all I say as I head for the cove.
