Chapter 37: Homeland

"You tricked us, you son of a bitch!"

Kumurap kurap ako. Elijah woke up. Elijah wasn't sleeping in that chair! He easily broke free from those chains. He is okay!

Pinoproceso ko ang nangyayari habang laglag panga na nakatingin sa asawa ko na tila baliwala lamang ang nangyayari. I wasn't the only one shocked. Sila Mama rin ay nagulat ngunit nang napatingin ako kina Papa, they didn't flinch or anything. Tila alam nila na kasali ito sa plano ni Elijah.

"What's the meaning of this?" gulat at pabulong kong tanong.

"It's part of Elijah's plan, Amber." kalmadong tugon ni Ruhan.

Nananatiling nalalaglag ang aking panga, iniintindi ang lahat ng nangyayari. Kumurap ako muli at nagkunot ng noo.

"So you guys knew?"

He creased his forehead a bit. "Not his location. Ngayon niya lang sinabi pero kasali sa plano niya na maging hostage nila Tito para malaman ang lahat nitong transaksyon."

"And everything last night was a drama? The searching for him? You knew he is out somewhere as a hostage and no one wanted to tell me even a bit?!" hindi ko napigilan na tumaas ang boses.

"It's part of the mission, Amber--"

Pinutol ko siya. "And part of the mission is to make me believe that my husband is must likely cannot come back alive?"

"No. Initially, the plan is to follow Tito Donatello and Tito Gardo to their escape route and corner them. At totoong pumalya ang unang plano na iyon kaya si Elijah ay sumabak sa peligro. It was the second option and it leads to this."

"I could understand whatever is going on but why kept it from me?" naging mahina ang aking boses.

"Because it will make it more natural if you don't know."

Suminghap ako ng malalim na hangin at binalik ang tingin sa monitor. Wow. They really got me so good. Pinasadahan ko ng dila ang aking nanunuyo na pang-ibabang labi. I'm speechless now. I don't know what else to say.

"Hindi kita hahayaang sirain mo ang lahat ng pinaghirapan ko!" pagalit na sigaw ni Donatello.

Elijah snickered softly. "Wala akong ginawa. You just did the job for me. You disclosed all your associates thinking I won't be alive in the next few hours."

"Fuck you, Elijah! You are no better than us. You are a devil too!" panunuya ni Gardo.

Napaluhod na sila at nilalagyan ng posas nila Jude. One soldier handed Elijah a green military shirt and he swiftly dressed himself without minding the cuts on his chest. He just stared at his two Titos without remorse, mercy.

"You really lived your name, huh? You really killed my son just to get me?!" singhal ni Donatello.

"I am a soldier. Anyone who doesn't complies the law will be punished for it. And I, for one, brings justice." malamig na sinabi ni Eli. "Tito Gardo would relate,"

"Tara na, Eros." si Don Benjamin.

Mabilis akong lumingon sa kanila. "Pwede ho bang sumama?"

Tumango naman si Papa. Nilingon ko sila Mama at ngumiti siya sa akin.

"Bring my son home," banayad niyang sinabi.

I nodded and followed Ruhan to the Ford SUV. Doon din sumasakay sila Papa at si Maddox ang nag-drive. My heart is palpitating in delight. My negativity has left my mind but there's still a lot going on inside my head yet I don't want to sort it. For now what matters is I have to see Elijah.
