Ch 14: "Jealousy"

(Felix's pov)

I followed them to a room. I just didn't want to deny.

Filip: Okay, so you are telling us that you like someone you don't know well?
Felix: Actually-
Filip: What if she is... I don't know... a heartbreaker?
Felix: I actually...
Filip: And you were spying on her! Like... wth?!
Felix: I actually know her really well.
Filip: And... Oh, really?
Felix: Yes. Since some months ago.
Baren: Well... You actually need at least a year to know someone.

Those words kept me thinking. What if she wasn't as I thought she'd be? Just like...
I was interrupted when suddenly, someone entered.

Foxy: Oh, hey guys! Have you seen Kitty? She stole my precious knife.
Felix: Tf? It's a weapon and you are calling it "my precious"? Are you okay? Don't you need help?
Filip: Uhm... I saw her in another room.
Foxy: Really? Thanks!
Baren: I hope no one else interrupts because-
Filip: Calm down. Now, Felix, how did it happen?
Felix: I... don't know when exactly I started seeing Katie as something more than a friend... It just... happened. Also, why are you asking me this? I barely know you guys!
Baren: We've seen how you act in front of her. You obviously feel something. We want to help you.
Felix: Okay, but I know exactly what to do.
Filip: Really? Because you just were behind a wall spying on her. So, number one, give her privacy. Stop spying. It's scary.
Felix: Now that I think of it... I might need some help.
Baren: Wait, guys, act like nothing happened. Someone is coming.

Guess who it was. Exactly. Pony and Katie came inside the room while we were talking.

Pony: Can you believe she did that?- Oh, hey guys!
Filip: Hey there! What were both of you doing?
Katie: Well, we were just talking. And I guess we have some things in common.
Pony: You are right.
Felix: What if you guys have "some things in common"? Does that matter?
Katie: Yes, it does!
Felix: In that case, why do we still talk to each other?
Katie: What's up with you? I just try to make friends, and you are mad because of that!
Felix: You still have friends! And if you are gonna say you just lost one, let me tell you, it wasn't my fault that Brenda is now infected!

I regretted those words almost instantly.

Katie: You're right. Why wasn't it me...?

She left running.

Pony: Katie, wait-

He looked at me.

Pony: Well, are you proud? She had hard times when losing her best friend, and now she's blaming herself because of you.

After saying those words to me, he left. I felt really bad. Did I have to say that? I kept looking at the opened door as Baren and Filip came closer.

Baren: Well... What did you just do?
Felix: I... don't know.
Filip: You should apologize.
Felix: I guess you are right.

I went out, searching for Katie, and found her some minutes later hugging Pony as he was asking her if she was fine. She was crying. Seeing this made me feel a thousand times worse. I returned to the room, looking at the floor.

Filip: And well, what did she say?
Felix: Huh? Oh, she's gonna think about it.

I couldn't tell them the truth, because they would worry. Or... maybe not.
Some days passed, we all went out and learned to defend ourselves. I could still see them talking, and couldn't stop thinking about what I did. I sometimes remembered that time, after the trip.

(Flashback)

After returning, everything was still awkward. Whenever we found each other, we just used to say "hi" and then "bye". I always tried to start a normal conversation, but Katie just left saying things like: "Oh, dear! It's late, i have to go to work now! See you". When I finally got to talk to her like we were used to, is when we became friends again. Well, Brenda helped me a little. She got us stuck inside a room for two hours. Still, it was worth it.

(Present time)

Tigry: Hey. Hey! HEY! Are ya alive?
Filip: Oh, don't worry about it. He stays like that sometimes.
Baren: Yeah, but it isn't always that much. It's the third time today.
Tigry: Yes. And he hasn't even eaten a little. Think you can eat this too, Rash?
Rash: Again? Okay...
Felix: Hey! Leave my food in peace!
Rash: Sorry...
Felix: No... no problem.
Filip: Are you still looking at them?

He pointed to another table, where Pony and Katie were still sitting.

Felix: No... Well, yes. So what?
Pandy: Hey, guys! Enjoying the view?
Kitty: Those two...
Felix: Those two... what? Also, Pandy, no. I'm definitely not enjoying the view.
Kitty: Well, I see what's happening here. You are jealous~
Felix: I'm not jealous!
Pandy: Yeah... you are a bit childish, just as Katie said.
Felix: For the second time, I'm not... Wait, did she tell you that?
Kitty: Pandy, let's go now.
Pandy: Wait a second. Felix, yeah, she told us that. But she also said she misses you a lot. It's just... she can't understand why you suddenly started being like this with her.
Kitty: Pandy!
Pandy: Coming! Don't forget what I just said.
