Ch 7: "Up all night"

(Katie's pov)

It was finally friday. For some reason I was excited. Time passed slowly. When getting in the hospital, I watched carefully that potato man (yeah, he was still there) and I saw it was Mr. P, an important person here in Lucella. His wife, Ms. P, was very, very sick. I saw some doctors trying to make a cure.  I didn't care too much about it because I didn't think it would affect all of us...
Anyways, like I was saying, I was very excited for the trip. Doctor Beary already gave me the permission, so it was all going as planned. At 6:00 p.m, Felix called me.

Felix: Permission?
Katie: Got it.
Felix: Good. Foxy and I are going for you and Brenda in a blue car. We will wait for both until you come.
Katie: Okay! See you!

(Felix's pov)

Thirty minutes after the call, we were already in the car, talking about our ideas for the camping.

Brenda: How about we... I don't know... Make some sandwiches?
Foxy: That sounds kinda for a picnic.
Felix: Oh! A picnic is a great idea! Right, Katie?

She didn't answer.

Brenda: Shh! She's asleep.
Foxy: What?? With this music??

Yeah, gotta say, the music was pretty loud, but Katie managed to fall asleep somehow. I looked back and I saw her. How can someone be so cute??

Brenda: Then, Felix, I have a question for you.
Felix: What is it?
Brenda: Do you like her??
Felix: Umm... I'm not quite sure, but...
Brenda: But...?
Felix: Promise to keep it as a secret?
Brenda: Promise.
Felix: I do.

An awkward silence filled the place after that answer.

Brenda: What the- You guys just had your first encounter this week!
Felix: Well... I believe in love at first sight.
Foxy: This man- Oh! We've arrived!

We parked the car and went out of it.

Brenda: Katie!! We arrived!
Katie: ... Hey there! So... This is the place?
Felix: It is! Let's make a fire and warm up, shall we?

We lit a fire and sitted near it. Foxy roasted some marshmallows, and we ate them as Brenda started talking.

Brenda: ... The man was intrigued, so he went inside the abandoned classroom. There, something seemed not to be right. Books, notebooks, markers... All of them started falling from the shelves. He tried to escape, but someone (or something) blocked the exit. No one ever found him.
Katie: Pff- That's it? I'm not even... Okay, that wasn't a real story, right?

After the scary stories, we went to sleep. Brenda shared her tent with Foxy, so Katie decided to share hers with me. Some minutes after laying in the floor, the nature sounds seemed to be scaring her.

Katie: ... What was that?!
Felix: That was just the wind, Katie.
Katie: Oh! Yeah, right... What was that?!
Felix: That might be the trees.
Katie: Right! Sorry...
Felix: Are you scared?
Katie: Wha- No! I guess... Well, just a little.
Felix: It's normal. But don't worry. Try to rest, if something happens I'll be here with you.
Katie: Thanks! Good night!

That was the first time I kept awake all night long just to take care of someone. But I promised to protect her. Btw, she was very cute while sleeping. I loved to see that.

(Katie's pov)

For some reason, after Felix gave me those words, I felt comfortable and protected. It was very nice of him. With him by my side, I was sure nothing bad would happen.
