Ch 28: "Alert"

Yeah, I couldn't come up with a better title. Anyways-

(Katie's pov)

I went downstairs and called the rest of the members. I was still thinking. What did Willow mean by: "It's been a long time"? Don't tell me we're getting into the dark stuff again...

Willow: Alright everyone, tomorrow's an important day. We are going to meet another survival group for... "exchanging supplies". I need you all to help me with this. So... Tigry, Kitty, Baren and Pandy will come with me to the Old Oak. Filip, Felix and Katie, you guys will stay here and protect the base.
Pandy: And can I ask... how did you get to know about this... "new group"?
Willow: They communicated with us via radio. We received their message.
Katie: But Willow, wouldn't it be better to just leave them be?
Willow: Katie, stop interfering. They might have useful things, we cannot waste this opportunity.
Katie: Alright...
Willow: So guys, get ready for tomorrow.

Everyone got out, except for Felix and me.

Felix: Hey, do you know what Willow might be up to?
Katie: I have no idea, but this definitely doesn't feel right.
Felix: Are you worried because the other group might do something to us?
Katie: No. I trust them. I'm worried because we might do something to the other group.
Felix: Really? Oh, come on, Katie. When was the last time The Silver Paw or Willow hurt someone?
Katie: I know we haven't done that in a while, but people can't change that easily. I don't think we should be too trusting.
Felix: You are the one trusting strangers!
...
Felix: *sighs* Fine, I'll be alert too, but I still don't think it's necessary.
Katie: *nods* It's just in case.

I know, I know. Probably I was exaggerating, but I remembered my mom always used to say it's better to trust people you don't know than to trust the ones who you know can be evil. I thought it made no sense, but I'd give it a chance now.

She was right.

We stayed in charge of the Refinery the next day, as Willow and the group went to see the survivors. I was casually talking to Filip, and Felix was searching for our weapons upstairs.

Filip: I wonder if they'll be alright.
Katie: They will, I know it. They are all strong enough to protect themselves.
Filip: Good point.
Katie: I have a question.
Filip: Tell me.
Katie: Do you think I can protect myself?
Filip: Well... Yeah, of course. Why are you asking?
Katie: I... Just wanted to know.
Filip: Hmm... I see... It's because of Felix, right?
Katie: Yes...
Filip: I'm sure he knows that. He just really, really cares about you.
Katie: But it makes me feel bad, he's always looking after me, and I feel like I can't do anything for him.
Felix: Well, first stop putting yourself in danger. You would make me a great favor.
Katie: Okay-

I turned around. Felix was behind us, looking at me with a sassy smile.

Katie: How long have you been there? You scared me!
Felix: You see, I used to perform at a Carnival. I know how to surprise people.
Filip: Yeah, now I'll have nightmares about ya.
Felix: Let's get out of the last topic, shall we? Anyways, does any of you know about the crew?
Filip: Nope, we've been waiting for like... half an hour.
Katie: They should be back soon.

Meanwhile, at the Old Oak...

(No one's pov)

Pony, Zizzy and Y/N were waiting for the ones who invited them there. Pony still felt like something was out of place.

Pony: Uhh... Are you both sure it's here? I don't see or hear anyone.

Zizzy looked at her boyfriend and smiled at him before answering.

Zizzy: Relax, honey. They are probably going to be here soon.
Pony: I don't know, Ziz. They are taking way too long.
Y/N: Shh! I hear something!

Footsteps sounded, and someone showed their face. The face Pony didn't want to see ever again. Willow.

Willow: Well, well, well. Look at this familiar faces!
Pony: You!?

He felt it. Regret. He wished to go back in time and avoid going there in the first place.
Willow approached him, chuckling.

Willow: Pony, the ex-member. It's such a shame you left us. You were a very good friend. It's too bad you are... nothing to me now.

Pony didn't say anything. Willow could do lots of things, and he knew it. It was better not to mess with her.
She went to the person she despised the most at this point.

Willow: Y/N, the officer who took me away from my family. Must've felt great to rip me away from the ones I cared about, right?
Y/N: Willow, I-
Willow: Shut up! I'm being polite for now.

She finally saw Zizzy and went to her.

Willow: So... Pony has got himself a girlfriend. Who might you be? You are certainly someone I've never seen before.
Zizzy: You may not know me, but I know absolutely everything about you and your manipulated, sick crew. You are a monster!
Willow: *laughs evilly bcuz she's a villain* Is that so? I suppose Pony told you a whole lot about us, didn't he, sweetheart? That was one of his many flaws, heh. He could never keep his mouth shut.

After that, she sighed.

Willow: Enough talking. Hmm... What to do...? What to do...? Oh, I know! Take the zebra with us. Leave the two to rot.

Pony tried to stop Willow. He ran towards her.

Pony: No! Leave Zizzy alone!

Willow aimed at Pony with her gun, as everyone else just looked terrified.

Willow: Woah, woah, woah! Hold your horses, I don't wanna hurt anyone. I'm just taking her for questioning, that's all.

Zizzy was already surrounded by Pandy and Kitty. She looked at Pony and nodded with a little fake smile.

Zizzy: It's... okay, Pony. I'll stay strong and come back, I promise.
Willow: See? She understands! Now, everyone, let's get out of here.

With that said, they all left.

Pony: Zizzy...

(Felix's pov)

Katie, Filip and I were waiting for everyone at the entrance. I heard people coming.

Felix: Guys, look! It's them!
