Chapter 20

Josie woke up with a gasp, she groaned when she felt like her head was going to explode. Josie looked around wondering where she was. She was relieved when she realized she was in her room. "Your awake." she heard her dad say, he was sitting on a chair with his head hanging low.

"Dad? Wh-what happened?" Josie said as she sat up fixing her hair so she doesn't look crazy. "You fainted."

Josie was confused. Everytime she would siphon magic, she would feel powerful but this time she didn't. She felt exhausted, sick, she felt...

Different.

"Wait what? Why?" this had never happened to her before, so she was confused as to why this was happening to her. "You siphoned a lot of black magic." Alaric said with his head down.

He looked...disappointed.

"Even before you siphoned the monster, you had black magic coursing through your veins." He started to sound angry. "Dad-"

"What the hell did I tell you about doing black magic Josie!" He stood up angrily.

This time it was Josies turn to be disappointed. "Dad I-I didn't know i was doing black magic." Josie said, Alaric scoffed "The black magic is still inside you. You are going to stay here until we find a way to get rid of it." he said

Josie was about to say something but she hesitated, she's better off if there's no black magic inside of her.

Alaric then left without saying goodbye.

Josie sighed and laid back down, the black magic inside was making her dizzy, tired and she started feeling sick. Right when Josie closed her eyes Lizzie burst through the door and gave josie a big crushing hug.

"Oh thank god you're okay." She mumbled into josies shoulder. Josie smiled "I should have stopped you Jo."

"No Liz it's not your fault i decided to siphon the magic. It was my choice." Josie told her "Hope was coming with me to see you. But the hobbit dragged her away, literally."

"It's okay, i'm just glad you're here."

Lizzie smiles "Look if you're not too tired, do you mind helping me show a new student around?" Said lizzie.

"I would but dad won't even let me out of this room." Josie says sighing, "Oh don't worry about that, come on." Lizzie says dragging Josie out of the room.

Once they get to the front of the school Alaric starts walking towards them, and he does not look happy.

"What did i say about leaving your room Josette!"

Lizzie steps in front of Josie to make sure he no longer yells at her.

"Dearest father, Josette here needs to help me with this new student and i cannot do this tour by myself. I've never done it by myself so whether you like it or not she's staying." Lizzie says crossing her arms.

Alaric sighs in defeat, "Fine but keep an eye on her. The new student's name is Ryan, he's a vampire. As i expect, you both will give him a tour and make him feel welcome. If you need me, i'll be in my office." He says and walks back into the building.

Lizzie and Josie nod "Oh look he's here." Josie says as she sees a Salvatore school van pull up.

Once the van pulls up in front of them Dorian walks out and opens the back door.

The new student walks out of the van trying to fix his hair. He's wearing a white button up with some black suit pants.

"Welcome to the Salvatore, we're your tour guides." Lizzie says smiling.

"I'm Lizzie"

"I'm Josie"

"Sisters" Lizzie quickly says.

"Twins."

"Fraternal. Obvs." Lizzie says with sarcasm.

"You must be Ryan right?" Josie asks, "Call me Clarke." He says with a smug grin on his face, extending his hand to the girls.

For some reason Josie had a bad feeling about him so she doesn't extend her hand, Lizzie quickly notices and shakes his hand.

"Come on Clarke, let's show you around. Follow me!" Lizzie says walking into the building expecting Josie and Clarke to follow but Josie just stands there awkwardly without saying a word.

Clarke just keeps looking at her with his smug grin.

"Um i said follow me!" Lizzie says coming out of the building.

"Right. Let's go." Josie says walking in the building with Clarke following behind her.

Meanwhile Hope and Landon are laying on the bed relaxing after a long day. Landons playing with Hopes hair as she lays her head on his chest.

"Hope."

"Yes." She lifts her head up to look at him. "I-I need to tell you something." he sounds afraid.

They both sit up.

"Whatever it is you can tell me Lan." Hope says grabbing his hands.

He sighs deeply and hesitates to speak.

"I didn't come back to the school because i wanted to." he says.

"I was sent here by someone. Hope I..."

He takes a deep breath, Hope stares at him confusingly "I have a brother... a-a real brother, by blood."

Hopes jaw drops slightly "What? Landon that's amazing." She says smiling but then she stops when she realizes Landon isnt "Hope no. It isnt. He sent me here to..."

He stops speaking and is starting to regret telling her. "Landon tell me."

He sighs "He sent me here to plant some things to hurt..."

There's a moment of silence between the two.

"Landon to hurt who?" Hope begins to worry.

"To hurt her."
