Alastor's POV

I sat in my office, bored out of my mind.

Ariel kicked me out, telling me she had a responsibility to handle and I could "take the day off"

I agreed...not wanting her to know I didn't really want the day off.

With a sigh, I stood up and snapped my fingers, teleporting myself to the inner city. Maybe a walk will help.

So I walked around, demons cowering from me per usual. Truly these fools are pathetic, my smile widened a bit.

My thoughts filled with Ariel, and I wondered what she was up to that was more important than me. I've found I enjoy spending time with her.

I noticed then a crowd of demons. They seemed to be gathered around the picture show.

Interested, I wondered over to the crowd. Everyone was so invested in the film playing that none of them even noticed me.

It was the news.

On TV was the princess! How peculiar...and she's singing? Oh, this is quite entertaining indeed.

Perhaps Ariel sending me away was a blessing! Ah, this is almost more entertaining than the stock market crash!

She wrapped up her song, something about a rehabilitation hotel, and of course got thoroughly laughed at.

I scoffed and shook my head.

How ridiculous, oh so entertaining!

With that I turned and walked away. Oh princess, you're going to fail miserably! I will be waiting for the news of it.

But for now, I think I'm going to stop by Ariel's loft. I don't care of her responsibilities, I'm bored.

So with that, I teleported to her dwelling.

"Darling! I know you said-" I froze, my ears perking up.

There she was, dancing in the living room with a very small infant in her arms.

She spun around when she heard me, and gave me a look.

"Alastor, I told you I have stuff to do! You'll just be bored..." she said, and I shrugged.

"I'm bored either way! May as well be bored with you, my darling," I said and didn't miss the glint of affection in her eyes or the soft blush on her nose.

"Oh, alright...well as you can see I have my hands full, so..."

I approached her, and her words died off. My gaze was trained curiously on the small baby.

"Why do you have this...child?" I asked her, and she sighed,

"My neighbors asked me to watch her," she explained and I nodded my head. I watched as she rubbed noses with the small human, and there was a smile on her face I had never seen before.

An affectionate, motherly look in her eyes. It reminded me of my own mother...

"Ah..." I hummed, then I reached for her, and Ariel pulled away. Her eyes were wide as she let out a soft chuckle.

"Uh, absolutely not," she scoffed, and I let my arms drop, giving her a faux sad look.

"Alastor, I barely trust you with the knives in my kitchen, why do you think I'd trust you with a baby?" She said, but she was smiling.

Wow, rude. Deserved, but still rude.

I rolled my eyes, "I'm not going to eat it!" I protested and she rolled her eyes back at me.
