Ariels POV

I sat at the dining room table, giggling at another one of Mai's jokes. Her button eyes gleamed with amusement, and she chuckled.

"Mai, you're literally hilarious," I chuckled, and she shrugged.

"I mean...yea, I am," she said, not so humbly, with a shrug and a wink. She looked around and leaned back in her chair.

"Man, so this is the Radio Demon's place? It's so...clean," she said it as if it were surprising. I tilted my head at her, giving her a crooked smile.

"Why wouldn't it be?" I asked, amused. She shrugged, "well, you see I've taken down a few overlords...like a lot of them, it was kind of exhausting...but not nearly as many as him," her voice grew dark, "he's a killer...down to the bone. Watching him was like watching a war, but one man against everyone else..."

My eyes widened, and in an instant she went back to normal, "I just figured he lived in some evil lair deep beneath the city, covered in cobwebs and creepy shit,"

I laughed nervously, "yea...no, he pretty much makes sure this place is spotless," I said, picking up my teacup and taking a sip.

Mai giggled, "well, I'm glad he treats you well...and you wanna know something else..." she lowered her voice and glanced to the kitchen where Alastor was preparing lunch.

"We fought," she whispered and my eyes widened.

"What?" I breathed, and she nodded, "yea, we did," she smiled and nodded. She seemed proud, and I tilted my head.

"You seem...proud?" I shook my head, and her smile widened.

"Not everyone can say they had a scuffle with Alastor..." her eyes focused on mine, "and survived."

"Indeed," his voice popped up next to us and I jumped, whereas Mai lazily looked in his direction.

"I almost beat you," she huffed, crossing her arms as she sat back. He chuckled and sat in the chair next to me, waving his hand.

Various foods appeared on the table and my mouth watered. I love his cooking.

"No, darling, although you were extremely fun to play with, I'll give you that," he glanced up at her, his smirk widening at her fuming state.

"Liar! Ugh," her short hair puffed up as the threads in her eyes glowed a bright white. She settled and returned Alastor's smirk.

"Oh, do tell where you got that scar on your neck," she hummed and Alastor froze. I reached up, gently moving the collar of his dress shirt aside. There on his neck was a little white scar, not very big but still visible.

He chuckled darkly, his eyes glowing slightly, "darling, if you want a rematch just say the word," his voice changed and I watched his antlers grow slowly.

Mai grinned evilly, lifting her hands as black electricity danced around her fingertips, "you're on, old man," were her next words.

I rolled my eyes and as Alastor stood I reached up and grabbed him by the ear, sitting him back down. I then snapped my fingers and pointed at Mai, then to her seat.

Alastor winced and his antlers retracted, "sorry, my love, please release me," he begged and I let go.

I huffed, grabbing some food for myself, "you two can kill each other after lunch, or I'll eat the both of you," I grumbled. Mai sat down, crossing her arms with a pout.

We all began to eat, Mai telling many stories about her time in hell. Mai loves to talk, and so does Alastor. I'm more of a listener.

They went back and forth with their little stories, taking shots at one another and telling jokes. I listened and smiled, laughing along.

Mai was now recounting her version of the fight between her and Alastor, all with dramatic hand gestures.

"There I was," she said in a theatric voice, "the radio demon at my mercy," I looked over at Alastor who rolled his eyes.

"No-"

"Shhh, I'm telling it!" Mai whined and Alastor put his hands up, crossing his arms as he leaned back. I chuckled softly and looked back to Mai.

"Anyway, there I was...I had him, my dagger to his throat..." I glanced at the little scar, "he was on his knees, and I was ready to add a new puppet to my collection...when his fucking shadow threw me halfway across the eastern side of the godamn pentagram," she growled, and I stifled a laugh.

Alastor laughed, "darling you never had me at all, like I said before..." he leaned forward, putting his elbows on the table as he laced his fingers together, a sinister smile on his face, "you were fun to play with."

Mai scoffed, "yea right, I totally whooped your ass, you know I did," she waved her hand and he rolled his eyes again.

I pulled him down to me and kissed his cheek, causing him to freeze and a blush to crawl on his cheeks. Mai burst out laughing, and put a hand over her face.

"Maybe I didn't beat you, but she sure as hell would," she laughed and I giggled. Alastor covered his face with one hand, sighing.

"Dear, please don't encourage her," he whined at me and I chuckled softly.

"You're too cute when you're flustered," I hummed at him and he growled. I pushed his hair away from his face, and smoothed it out before looking back to Mai.

She was watching me in awe, shaking her head, "it's still a mystery to me...how you managed to tame the beast," she said softly, then took in a sharp breath and stood up, "welp...I'd better head out. I got places to be, souls to harvest,"

She came over and gave me a hug, "call me, ok? We should have a girls night soon," she said and I nodded, hugging her back.

"For sure," I responded, and she waved as her body dissipated in a cloud of smoke and black electricity. Once she was gone, I turned to Alastor.

He looked down at me with a soft smile, then it turned devious.

"You'll pay for that..." he said lowly, and my ears flattened as I giggled and stood up quickly. I ran around the table to distance myself from him and he chuckled lowly.

"You can run," he said smoothly.

"I'll even give you a head start."
