No more sitting in a tin can miles away
There is just ground control left for Major Tom
Although, still nothing much to do
He sits in his new space capsule seat
It's the space where he sits and takes his pills and capsules
Not much of a feat
His seat is on the earth now
It won't go around it
It can't take off
Don't have to land it
Orbit is much lower
Sitting is easy enough
Only walks up and down the hallways there, with no flight plan
But watches the NASA Channel whenever he can
He's a sky pilot waiting for his last sky bound mission, but wonders where he will land
There is only one way left to ever, ever, ever reach the sky it's...
five, four, three, two, one
Then a quiet takeoff will be Major Tom's goodbye
One last step for man
Finally reaching his "Pie-In-The-Sky"
They will all miss him there
But I'm sure he would say the only thing he'll miss about that place is Strawberry Jell-O day
