Namjoon knows about it. He heard about that word. That phase that everyone can experience in some part of their life.
Slump is what they call it. A phase where someone wasn't satisfied with themselves. They're struggling, but they don't know how to solve it. People feeling slump are usually uninterested with the things they love, they are being dragged by their disappointments while looking at the life that wasn't there's.
Today, Namjoon was feeling like he's on the bottom of the world. Their clients rejected all the beats that he submitted, and he has nothing else to present them. He's a good friend but he can't help but feel envy with how the client praise Yoongi's work. He;is happy for his friend but he can't help but ask himself 'why not me?'.
He went home with his head hanging low, he's tired but not the tiredness that can be satisfied by sleep. He hasn't slept for almost thirty-six hours, but every time he tries to close his eyes, his mind was filled with doubts and question why he's not good enough.
The younger noticed the lights were on, so Seokjin came home first.
'Thank god he's here.' He said to himself. Namjoon is missing his husband so badly. Seokjin is working on an enormous project for the company that made him come home late, late enough to see his husband already forcing himself to relax and have a decent amount of sleep.
He didn't mind about his husband's busy schedule. He's doing that for him to pursue music so he can't really complain. But some part of him is seeking some affection and attention from his beloved husband, so he can't help himself but feel bad.
He opened the door and the aroma coming out of their kitchen was tickling his nose. The younger smiled. Having Seokjin in times like this is what he always needs.
Namjoon discard his bag on the floor, not really caring about the laptop inside. He walks straight to the kitchen and saw the person he's missing so much.
Seokjin is facing back away from him, humming some pop beat while chopping something. He's too immersed in what he's doing that he doesn't even notice his husband being home.
The younger felt that need to just attached himself to Seokjin, hoping that everything will be fine when he's with him.
"Oh, my gosh! You scared me! Love, don't do that, I'm holding a knife! What if I stabbed yo-" Seokjin's ranting suddenly stopped as his husband held him tighter. A part of his mind knows that there's something more from that hug.
The elder washed his hands and tap Namjoon's hands to loosen it up. He turned around and saw the joyless face of his husband.
He noticed the dark circles, exhaustion and disappointment was showing in his eyes. He felt terrible for the younger.
"Bad day at work?" he gently asked as he played with the younger's hair. Namjoon didn't respond and just held him even tighter this time. It's like there's something he needs from Seokjin right now.
The elder allows him, even though it's quite painful, he allowed Namjoon have that something that he needs from him.
Seokjin finished cooking after he convinced the younger to let go of him so that he can finish faster. The younger hasn't said a word since he came home. That made Seokjin a little worried.
He wonders if this is what the younger felt when he shut him out, when he has his episodes. Something tug inside his heart by just thinking that.
They ate quietly. The two were sharing an awkward silence. Seokjin is observing if Namjoon wants to talk, but there's no sign that he wants to have a conversation right now.
