Alex jolted awake due to the sound of her phone ringing. She didn't even bother to see who it was and picked up the call.

"Hello? " she said with hooded eyes, wondering what time it is.

"Hey. Meet me at our place in school." replied Sean in a cold tone. Alex felt very awake the moment she heard his voice.

"What? Sean I--" Without even finishing her statement, he hung up. Alex cursed. She checked the time on her phone. 10:14 pm.

By the way he talked, Alex felt that whatever he's going to say or do would shatter her. She battled with herself, undecided whether to go or not. A weird feeling was telling her to go yet it was also telling her not to go.

She stood up, fixed her hair and ran downstairs. Vanessa was in the living room asleep on the couch with the television still roaring with life. Ever so slowly, she opened the door making sure it made no noise.

Her heart was beating very quickly and she didn't know why.

Was she nervous? Afraid? Or just famished?

Putting these thoughts aside, Alex started running. She couldn't explain why but she did. It was as if her legs had a mind of its own.

Keep running! Pant. Pant.

People whom she passed by looked at her as if some maniac was chasing her. Her wound started to hurt but she didn't care. All she cared about was answers about Sean's weird behaviour.

Alex stopped for a while to catch her breath, refueling her system and giving her sore legs time to rest. The moon lit her path. The stars, an audience watching her solo marathon.

Run!

Faster and faster she went, like a cheetah running after its prey. It felt like she was running for years and years trying to reach a destination that doesn't
seem to exist. She couldn't remember the last time she had run this far. Maybe because it never happened.

And finally.... She came upon the school, breathless, in pain and with numb legs. Alex then stood there and looked up at the roof for the next five minutes hoping she would see Sean's figure but she knew that he was at the other side. That five minutes gave her enough time to catch her breath and put her heart back to its normal pace.

She started to walk briskly towards the school building and entered through the window of Class A-2 that can't be locked.

Once inside, she used her phone as a flashlight and headed to the stairway. Her steps echoed throughout the empty classrooms.

For every step she took, it felt like her feet became heavier and heavier. Still, it was not as heavy as the emotions she felt.

'What would I say to him when I see him? 'she asked herself. She wondered if she would freeze or maybe even break in tears.

She stopped once she reached the end.All that separated her from seeing him is the door right in front of her. Alex contemplated whether to open it or just leave while she got the chance.

After all that ignoring he had done all day, she knew that it would be awkward.

Inhale. Exhale.

She opened the door and immediately spotted a figure of a man at the far end with a lit cigarette. Thanks to the Christmas lights and lanterns they forgot to remove last year, it was bright enough for the both of them.

Sean saw her and put the cigarette away, squishing it with his foot to put it out. Alex started to walk towards him and so did he towards her. She stopped a few meters away from him but was caught off guard when he suddenly walked straight to her for a hug.
