CHP9

Luke faced the apartment door and swiftly unlocked the door. The door creaked open to reveal Nick casually typing something on his laptop on the couch. Now because he was wearing headphones and was playing music , he was oblivious . Luke closed the door, walked over to his little brother bent down a little so his mouth was near his ear.

Clearing his throat, Luke removed the headphones from Nick's head and screamed,"Your almighty brother is home!"

Nick , in a haze fell to the cold ground. He was thankful that the laptop didn't get damaged in any way. Standing up and brushing the imaginary dust of his pants and shoulders, he glared at his big brother.

Luke on the other hand ignored this and grabbed the guitar which was just  on the far corner of their small living room. He sat down on the couch and put the guitar on his lap, bringing his fingers in to play it.

Luke began to pluck the guitar as Nick looked at him irritated. "You can't just come home late and pretend like nothing happened. You were with Alex were you?"

"Hm? What's wrong with that?"He stated, still playing the guitar.

"You skipped, I mean she skipped class and here I am getting worried on your whereabouts and what do you know? You were with her!"He chided.

"A problem occurred. A rather painful one."Luke paused and his cheeks became a shade of light red for a moment.

"And what might this problem be?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Luke, you bastard. Don't tell me you like her already. "

"I like her as a friend. And by the way she's already got a boyfriend."Luke continued to talk to him without eye contact as he was to occupied on the guitar he's playing.

"Tch. Doesn't mean that can stop you from liking her."

"I don't like her the way you're thinking. Just stop okay? Get some sleep will you? We are going seeking tomorrow."

Nick was  frustrated. "Huh?"

"We got a hunch to where her father is or where he might be in."

He opened his mouth to say something but closed it again. Nick sat down besides him and said nothing.

He took a deep breath."This chic got us into deep crap didn't she?"

"Language."

"Don't act like you don't cuss."

"I cuss sometimes."Luke defended."I suppose she did."He continued.

Luke continued to play the guitar and hum out a song that he really liked while Nick just sat there with him. He didn't notice the time he used in playing the guitar that by the time he stopped, Nick drifted off to sleep.

"Idiot. I told you to go to bed...."He stood up and put the guitar on the side of the couch.

"Hey, you."He snapped his fingers in front of him. "Wake up!"His hands slightly slapped both his cheeks but to no prevail, he gave up.

With a deep sigh, Luke grabbed a blanket in Nick's bedroom and proceeded to cover his brother with it.

Grabbing the instrument, Luke advanced to his own room and threw himself on the bed.

New day. New goal. And that was to find a wanted man with his group of followers. Luke woke up out of bed and went downstairs. He felt like for every move he makes, menstrual flow just keeps happening which made him feel utter discomfort.

Alex's mom was already in the kitchen up and awake  sipping tea.

"Buongiorno"She greeted. Luke had no idea to what she just said but replied anyway. "Sure."

Vanessa looked at him confused but shrugged it off anyway.

"So what are your plans for today?"She asked.

"Well..uhh I need to go to school to finish something up."

"That's fine with me. Now hurry up and go change, Sean's waiting."

Luke didn't understand her but then he took a peek outside and there was a guy wearing a black jacket and converse shoes, just tapping his phone. The guy that almost kissed him.

"The heck is he doing here?"

"I don't know, why don't you ask him?"

Luke gathered up the courage and walked out the door. Sean saw him almost instantly.

"Hey babe. What are you doing here?" Luke was choking on his own words but he didn't let him see.

"Why? Is it bad for me to be here?"He said.

"No it's just I didn't expect you to be here."

"Where are you going? What's with the getup?" He looked down on his attire. Alex had prepared herself. He didn't even notice until now.

"Going to school to do something."

"On a Saturday? You're really acting strange Alex, did something happen?" Sean said, getting closer now.

Luke backed up."Nothing happened. Can we go out some other time? Just let me be today."

Sean wasn't buying this. He could see it by the way he looked at him. Luke didn't have a choice. He took a deep breath, charged towards Sean and pecked his lips. "Please Sean?"

He watched the man's vanishing figure and when he made sure that Sean was out of sight, he intensely wiped his lips.

'Now that would be a moment that would give me nightmares'

Vanessa called his name...rather Alex's name from inside. Luke strided over there to find her on the phone with someone.

"Oh wait here she is now."She handed the phone to him. "It's that cute friend of yours."She added which made him almost snatch the phone out of her hold.

He brought it to his ear and turned around. "Alex! It's about time you called."He said almost in a whisper for her mom not to hear but thanks to her sharp hearing she caught what he said.

"You have a new friend also named Alex?"

Luke turned to face her.

"I---uh. I do?"Alex's mom wasn't buying especially because of his tone of saying it.

"Young lady I know a lie when I hear it. Spill." Luke stared at her. Her face showed no emotions. Oh she's dead serious about this.

He bolted to the door and screamed, "I'll explain everything soon mom!"

Alex was still on the phone and he brought the phone to his ear again.

"Crap. What happened?!"

"Your mom sure has the ability to sniff out a lie."Five blocks has passed,he slowed down .

"That's mom. Anyways, you know where to meet us.See you there."
