As soon as they arrived at hospital premises, murmurs among nurses were heard.

They helped in rushing Daniel to the emergency room but the moment Daniel was rushed in, Vanessa knew that something bad was going to happen next.

"Madam , we will do everything in our power to save him. Please wait in the lobby."A nurse said as she assisted them to the lobby.

When the nurse left, Vanessa turned to look at Hacker. "We need to go now. Lucci is still out there and the way the people here stare at us is telling me something."

"But mom.. We can't just leave him here."Alex interjected.

"You are right. That is why you and Luke are staying." She said

"What?" Luke and Alex spoke at the same time.

"Just please.... Stay." Her eyes pleaded. Alex opened her mouth to say something but a feeling inside of her told her not to do so.

Luke put a hand on her shoulder. Alex turned to look at him then to her mother. She nodded in response.

"Vanessa. We need to go. I don't like the glances those security guards are giving us." Hacker stated.

Vanessa smiled one last time at Alex. "I'm going to be fine. Keep an eye on Daniel for me." She said before walking away.

Hacker still had difficulty walking but the pain was now bearable. With their heads down, they strided towards the exit but as soon as they saw the guards walking fast towards them with their hands on their gun, Hacker grabbed Vanessa's wrist and started running.

"Fermatevi! Fermatevi!" They shouted but Hacker and Vanessa didn't dare turn back.

Some of the guards chased after them while 2 stayed to question Luke and Alex.

Luke didn't understand a word the guards were asking. He turned to look at Alex.

"My mom may be half Italian but don't look at me like I'm an expert in speaking it!"she half whispered.

"What the—?" he said with furrowed eyebrows.

"Oh don't look at me like that! I understand a bit okay? Now shush as I try to speak to them" Alex said before turning to look at the two guards. They looked like they were ready to shoot them.

Luke just listened quietly while Alex spoke with the two guards. He took that moment to examine her features more closely. Everything that is happening suddenly became blank to him. Nothing mattered but the beauty standing right in front of him.

His lips formed into a slight frown with the fact that they will never be anything but friends only. He didn't know when he started to actually like Alex. Or even love her.

Love?

Luke continued to look at Alex. They way she moved, the way she talked, the way she gets irritated at him feels very new for him.

It's sad that she already belongs to someone.

Drowned in his ocean of thoughts, he didn't notice Alex take a step towards him. She began talking to him but she noticed that he was in his own world.

"Luke?" No response.

She tiptoed and drew her mouth near his ear. "EARTH TO LUKE!"

That made him snap back into reality.

"Huh?"

"Geesh. Don't sleep with your eyes open. Come on let's go." Alex said before grabbing Luke's wrist and pulling him away from the guards. His full attention was on her hand holding his wrist.
