Chapter 5 - Shadow Clan

Dawn's POV

I got home from the fae kingdom 5 days ago and as far as I'm aware that pesky girl is dead. One less Luna for my master to deal with when he ascends to rule over all wolf kind!

My name is Dawn Shadow. Lieutenant and Alpha Female of the Shadow Nature Wolf Pack. I am known to bring rot and decay to anything I wish - but my speciality, is killing those with magic tied to nature itself such as that pesky forest wolf Oiamh. Though it seems she survived thanks to the intervention of that sky wolf.

Oiamh unleashed her thorn whip attack against me but being a nature shadow I cancelled it.

"SAY GOODNIGHT LITTLE WOLF!" I screamed as I sent a blast of my decay magic at her, hitting her in the heart.

"OIAMH!!!!" Everyone shouted. I was surprised she went down that easy, little puppy mustn't have developed her true powers. No matter. I took her out

"Esterra and Yukio cover me, I have an idea. We sky wolves have our secrets" The sky wolf said

What? I turned to see him healing my decay magic!?

Master Noir was understandably angry I failed the mission, yet not angry enough to strip me of my rank. And I want to know why, guess I should ask him directly

"Master, may I speak with you in private?" I requested

"Very well. You may all leave" he commanded of the other wolves in the room. Then it was just the two of us.

"Master....err....father, why didn't you strip me of my rank after I failed in the mission to kill Oiamh Wolf?" I asked. Yes. Master Noir is my father yet I worked hard to get to where I am

"I didn't strip you as you've proven your worth to me in so many other ways Dawn. You worked hard to get to where you are and didn't seek pity from me as the head alpha who is also your father. I hope one day for you to inherit the rank of leader of the Shadow Clan. Keep striving forward to achieve your goal and do me proud." Noir explained

I'm proud to be his daughter but due to rivalries here, I only address him as father when we are alone. Lest people think I got what I have from being his daughter.

"Master, may I come in?" a voice called out. I recognised it, my brother Lycidas Shadow.

"Enter" Noir replied.

"Thank you...ah. Lieutenant Dawn. Pleasure as always." Lycidas said to me

"Captain Lycidas. Little brother." I said to him.

"What brings you here today son? I thought you were out spreading disease with your troupe?" Father asked as I sat on the ground.

"I was. Until my men starting falling over for some reason so I had to return early and have them looked at. We may be lovers of death and all things related but I'm not going to do my work without my pack. I'm sure you can relate Dawn" Lycidas explained

"Fully. I may be the queen of decay but my pack are my duty as well." I responded

"I see. Well in any case I'm proud of you both for all your work. I'm sure your mother would be proud of you as well" Father said but the last part caught Lycidas and I off guard. Father has never spoken of mom since the wolf flight so why bring her up now?

"If that is all you two, I am going to go rest for a bit. Keep up the great work and make me proud to call you both my children" Father added then Lycidas and I left.

"That was...odd. Father never talked about mother before in the 12 years since the great wolf flight we caused. Why do you think he mentioned her now brother?" I asked Lycidas as we walked to our home.

"Honestly sister, I have no idea. Our parents were always mysterious in what they talked about. But I will admit getting praised always is nice isn't it? The wolf of decay and her wolf of disease brother" Lycidas told me

"The two shadow wolves of death" I replied with an evil grin on my face then my brother hugged me. He's three years younger than me but we work in tandem spreading disease, death and decay wherever we go.

Lycidas' powers work differently to mine. He can use his magic to spread diseases that are waterborn but he also has a cursed gaze in his left eye, that that will poison the blood of all who look at it directly.

Both of us earned our ranks by ourselves. Father didn't just give them to us because we are his children.

Lycidas and I got home then went down to check on our prisoners in the basement. Soli and Crescida. The wolves of the sun and moon and daughters of the wolf gods.

"Well well well. T'would seem our prisoners are still unconscious. Good. It means they can't cry out to their parents for help. Although harming them would bring me joy" I said

"Indeed. But for now let's leave them be. Should Apollo and Artemis even dare descend to this world again we shall make quick work of them" Lycidas added then we went upstairs.

I heard a knock at the door shortly after Lycidas sat down so I went to see who it was.

"Oh..it's you.." I said coldly when I saw Fierro. He's one of the fire wolves in the clan who both myself and Lycidas hate with our souls.

I let him in then led him to the lounge where Lycidas was

"Fierro? The hell do you want?" Lycidas asked

"I merely wished to speak with your wife is all" Fierro stated

Lycidas just scoffed at that remark

"You should know that Dawn is not my wife. But rather she is my older sister. So choose your words VERY carefully or get the hell out of our home" Lycidas added then Fierro just turned tail and left the house.

I let out a sigh of annoyance at him even coming near us

"What happens if he tells others in the clan that we're siblings? They may work out our relation to the supreme alpha and luna of the Shadow wolves..." I asked Lycidas with fear in my voice

"Don't worry sweet sister. Fierra could tell from my tone of voice I was hinting to him that if he even said a word to others I would beat him up or even curse him with my eye. Remember you, mother and father are immune to my cursed gaze being my relatives" Lycidas reassured me then held me close.

"You might be younger than me Lycidas, but I will always be thankful to have a brother like you in my life" I told him

"And I will always be thankful you're my older sister" Lycidas replied then we went to bed cause it got late without us realising
