Zero's POV
Ugh my chest hurts so much right now.
I opened my eyes slowly but my vision was really bad right now. I could barely make out Esterra.
"Ah, you're awake Zero. How do you feel?" She asked me
"Sore....." I replied weakly
"I suspected you'd feel that way. You've spent 12 years living in a heartless body to only have it back now. It'll take some getting used to. Same to your new look." Esterra replied
"How long.......was I....out for?" I asked. It'll take some time for my strength to return.
"The procedure took your father and I about 4 hours in total. You've been asleep for about 6 hours still and I put you to sleep an hour beforehand so around 11 hours in total. Given what we did it was to be expected. You're on strict bed rest though for the next few days and after that you're to continue taking it easy for at least two months" Esterra explained.
No......I can't help Oiamh then....
I still feel a bit sleepy so I decided to just get some more sleep.
"Rest well prince of the sky. I'll let your mother know you're awake again" I faintly heard Esterra say before I fully drifted off to sleep again.
Esterra's POV
I'm glad Zero woke up from the procedure. Even if he is asleep again now. His body went through a drastic change so he'll need all the rest he can get.
I left his infirmary room to find his mother and update her on the situation.
After walking through the manor I eventually found her in the study reading.
"Skyla, you got a minute?" I asked
"Esterra, of course I do. Is it about Zero?" She replied.
"Yeah. He's woke up from the procedure at last. Or was awake rather. He only woke up for about ten minutes before he fell back asleep to keep resting and recovering. But I know he will make a full recovery now" I explained
"That's a relief. Rowen and I got home about 3 hours ago from the forest clan. Oiamh is beginning to embrace her position as Luna now but she will need help. And is also rallying her forces to confront Rose and Leyla in order to get revenge for her father's death. I don't blame the little pup, being forced into this role at her age, even Lumi of the Light clan was forced into leadership at a young age when both of her parents died. If not for Sora then Lumi would be struggling still I think. There are times I wish I could even begin to understand what it's like for the marked leaders to go through the pain of losing a parent unexpectedly then being forced into the role as a result...Rowen at least knew his mother was dying and had time to prepare everything ahead of his accession to Alpha..." Skyla responded.
"I had no idea things were this painful as a werewolf leader...I've been around for about 1500 years now as I just keep dying and reincarnating right after since I'm a Phoenix" I said
"It's fine Esterra. Even for me coming into Rowen'a family I had no idea what the pain truly was. I was born a sky wolf so I've always been a part of this clan, just, when you're a regular wolf in the clan things never seem as bad as they are. But once Rowen asked me for my hand in marriage and then later became his Luna Consort, I began to see things differently. But enough of my rambling, why not head home and get some sleep? I'm sure you could do with it my friend" Skyla responded.
I nodded with a smile then returned home. I actually live with Yukio since my home is in the winter forest. I know it seems crazy a bird of fire living in a winter forest but I prefer it this way.
"Welcome home Terra" Yukio said to me when I arrived.
"Yukio, what have I said about calling me Terra?" I asked with a giggle
"I know you hate it which is why I will keep calling you it. Anyway, how is he?"
"Recovering well from the procedure and sleeping right now. Which is something I need...I stayed awake last night and had 11 hours of magic burning today.." I replied when I sat down in our living room
"Damn Esterra, well you get ready for bed and I'll make you your favourite dinner." Yukio told me
"Heh, what did I do to deserve you as a roommate?"
"Just exist and being the best Phoenix I know you can be" Yukio replied then I went upstairs to my room.
No we are not romantically involved, I don't marry since I'm immortal and don't want to endure that pain.
I sat at my vanity brushing my long fire red hair whilst thinking about the situation in the forest.
Oiamh...don't hide your emotions little Luna. Even a Luna can cry
Just remembering my own parents dying 2000 years ago and them not reincarnating as their ashes were soaked with water and scattered in space, I know Oiamh is struggling.
"Esterra? You alright?" Yukio asked when he came in. I looked at the mirror and realised I was crying.
"Yeah...just reminiscing my past lives is all and thinking about Oiamh..." I replied
Yukio put a hand to my shoulder when I said that as well as place food on my desk
"Listen Terra, I know you shut your heart away. Since you're immortal, you don't want to go through the pain of losing those close to you. But at least let us be there for you when you need it. The same way we're going to be there for Oiamh and Naomi right now. The guardians and werewolf leaders need to be strong right now. Just know you're never alone. No matter what all of us will be friends for eternity my dear Phoenix" Yukio explained to me which made me cry so he held me close.
He left the room when he saw me smiling again then I enjoyed the food he made me before I went to bed.
Tomorrow is a new day and Yukio's right. We need to be strong. For Trodaí's memory MUST live on through his wife and daughter.
