Chapter 29 - History of the Sky

Rowen's POV

Welcome to the heavens. Home of the Sky Wolves - well, one of our homes.

I'm Rowen. Supreme Alpha of my wolf clan. Ruling side by side with my beloved wife Skyla.

"Rowen, are you ready to go? I don't want to keep the others waiting any longer than we have" Skyla asked as she and our son Zero stood in the doorway to my office

"Mommy, will I get to see Oiamh again today?" Zero asked

"Of course you will dear. Lumi will also be there" Skyla replied with a bright smile then we left the manor and made our way to the palace gardens.

When we arrived, Zero saw Oiamh and immediately ran to her.

"ZEWO!" Oiamh shouted as they played together which made me laugh.

"Rowen and Skyla, it's great to see you both again." Trodaí said when we walked over towards our fellow wolves

"Likewise Trodaí. Gods Oiamh sure has grown hasn't she" Skyla replied.

"About time you three arrived. We've been waiting" Sage said with a chuckle

"Oh yeah and you totally haven't been late to events before after getting your snout stuck in another book?" I replied which made everyone laugh

I saw all my fellow wolves...except for the Shadow Wolves

"Wait....where's Noir and Scarlet? I thought they said they would come alongside their kids?" Skyla asked

"We're right here you stupid cloud" I heard a snarky voice reply

"WATCH IT SCARLET! We've spoke before about your attitude - knock it off!" Tana told her

"Whatever...you know I don't like these events. I have better things to do back home" Scarlet added

"You could have just stayed home you know mom. Dad didn't make you come" Dawn told her mother

"Are they always like this?" Queen Niamh asked me

"I would like to say no...but yes she is sadly like this" I told Niamh. Scarlet is a ruthless leader. Known as the blood wolf.

Once everyone had gathered we took our seats inside the great hall for the banquet.

Oiamh, Zero, Sora and Lumi were elsewhere playing with the staff.

"Welcome one and all to the annual gathering of myths. I'm thrilled so many were able to make it today. For those who are here for the first time, it's a pleasure to welcome you to the royal palace. And now...let the feast begin!"

Skyla's POV

During the feast I heard commotion in the next room over - my sense of hearing is stronger than most - so I got up to investigate.

I checked and it was the pups playing with the captain of the guard.

"Oi vey you pups...leave Rosetta alone" I asked them whilst giggling

"Thanks Lady Skyla. I don't mind keeping them occupied at times - until they their tails start tickling my nose" which made us both laugh.

"How have you been adapting? Succeeding Trodaí Wolf of all people" I asked when I sat down next to her then held my son

"Yeah...it's some big shoes to fill in from. But he and Naomi made me who I am today - I owe it to them to keep the guard safe. But he did tell me if I ever need advice, the forest doors are always open"

I was about to say something else when I heard an explosion outside

"WHAT IN THE SEVEN THUNDERS WAS THAT?!" I shouted

"I DON'T KNOW! GUARDS!" Rosetta yelled then her squad entered

"GO FIND THE SOURCE OF THAT EXPLOSION! CALL ALL THE FORCES TOGETHER IMMEDIATELEY! I WILL JOIN OYU OUTSIDE MOMENTARILY" Rosetta commanded

"I need to get you and the others to safety Skyla, Follow me. Pups you as well" Rosetta said then we ran out of the room to the great hall to meet up with the others.

"JASON! GET THE KINGSUARD ASSEMBLED NOW! I WANT EVERYONE KEPT SAFE!" Rosetta yelled to her co-captain

"YES MA'AM!" Jason replied

Our pathway out was blocked by the wooden traps whoever set the explosions off set.

"Seven thunders....." I muttered as I shielded the kids.

"FLAMING ROSES GROW!" Rosetta yelled then orange roses sprouted on the door

"IGNITE!" then at once the door burst open

"Everyone follow me. I want you all brought to safety before I join my squad outside" Rosetta told us

"No. You're not going alone. Trodaí take Oiamh and the pups then follow the others. Skyla, Rowen, Yukio, Esterra and Aleiya we're joining Rosetta outside. We are the Guardians after all" Naomi added.

It was then, I noticed Zero was gone.

"Rowen...where's little Zero?" I asked my husband in fear. I saw his face have the same reaction I had.

Once I had picked up on Zero's scent, I left the other pups with Rosetta whilst I sprinted outside to find my son.

"ZERO! WHERE ARE YOU?!" I cried out then saw someone holding him

"Not another step or your son's life is torn before your eyes" the mysterious person told me.

"WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH MY SON?!" I shouted

"My name is Shadow - servant of the underworld. The Azure Storm Magic means a lot to us" Shadow told me

"LET HIM GO NOW!" I yelled back then unleashed my lightning magic. But Shadow dodged it then the world fell silent as I watched him pull out my son's heart

"ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed in rage as I raced over to his side.

Rowen's POV

Esterra and I were standing guard at our post when I heard a shrill cry

"That was Skyla!" Esterra said in panic then we raced over to my wife's side where I saw Zero bleeding out

"PHOENIX BREATH!" Esterra cast to help him.

"WINTER'S KISS!" I heard another then Zero's body froze

"That'll buy us time to heal him enough. His physical heart may be gone but it looks like a phantom heart was put in it's placed to make him live" Esterra explained as we held Zero. His appearance already changed to a far paler appearance.

Skyla's POV

"The little prince has now been cursed with a half life. Should you not meet our demands by his 21st birthday I shall return and slaughter him" Shadow told us but in a blur I saw Esterra and Rowen kill him.

~~~~~Present time~~~~~

I shot up in a panicked cold sweat.

That nightmare....it haunts me to this day still after what happened to my son all those years ago.

"Mom?" I heard a voice ask in worry

I turned and saw Zero sitting next to me on the bed.

"Thank the stars you're awake again. You fainted this morning with a mild fever. Probably the stress of everything getting to you. Is everything alright?" Zero asked me

I just pulled him in and held him close to my heart whilst tears rolled down

"Oh...that nightmare from the day I was cursed...Mom you'll never lose me to that again remember? I'll always be your little azure puppy. And even now you're gonna have a daughter once things settle down as I plan to ask Oiamh for her hand in marriage. The Sky and Forest wolves forever reunited." Zero explained then gave me a hug before leaving.

I got up then walked over to the window and saw Zero and Oiamh hanging out with their new friends.

Aye. Together Forever. My sweet Azure prince.
