Chapter 3 - Just My Luck

This is so not good, I'm hanging drenched in my underwear in the tree in Nash's back garden and all I can think about is that his dog Jax won't quit staring and barking at me and he's going to give my position away, but more importantly, I don't know if this branch is going to hold my weight much longer.

It all started with me thinking about Ally's plan - which sucked.

Like literally the worst plan in the world.

It involved using Shawn to get Nash and to be honest, I don't know why I didn't think of that one myself. But I'm not gonna do it.

I can't use Shawn like that and right now, I don't even know if I want Nash back; I've never seen him act like such a dick and now I have, I don't know if I would want to date someone that could be the way he was being.

Plus, Shawn is a nice guy, he doesn't deserve that.

Allison, however, wants Cam back and is getting Matt to help her do so, except she'd actually asked Matt for his help rather than using him and he was all for it.

So, everyone now thinks 'Mallison' is a thing.

This whole week has involved me third wheeling whilst The "couple" pranced around acting like they were in love and doing an extremely good job because everyone fell for it, even though they hadn't kissed or anything in front of people.

It was Sunday night and I was bored out of my mind; Ally was out with her mum for a girls night - I was invited, but I had passed, deciding that I couldn't be bothered to socialise. I was kind of regretting though, I'd finished all my homework and had no one to talk to.

I had walked out the back door, thinking that some fresh air would wake me up a little. I locked it behind me because James was known to sleepwalk and I didn't want to get the blame if he came out and drowned in the middle of the night or something.

What a stupid idea that was.

I wasn't in my underwear at this point, I was fully clothed and walking around the garden, fiddling with the key in my hand.

I walked along the side of the pool, dipping my toe in every now and then, testing the water to see how cold it was, it was about 10 at night and I was curious. I don't know why.

Anyway, I walked around to the corner nearest Nash's house and tripped.

This wasn't why I ended up drenched because I didn't actually fall in. Instead I knocked Max's favourite teddy into the water.

He must've left it outside after playing with it earlier but right now it was sinking to the bottom of the pool and I was just watching it and already dreading how much mum and Max we're going to kill me for this.

That's when I had the genius plan to get in the pool.

So, I thought I'd be clever about it. I stripped into my underwear so that I'd have some dry clothes to get into after and I dropped in quietly. It didn't take me long to grab the teddy and I hopped out quickly to hang the dripping thing on the washing line.

I should've gone indoors then.

However, I'd heard Jax bark and being bored anyway, I stood on the flower pot and lifted myself to see over the fence.

Jax barked and wagged his tail at me, it was actually cheering me up to know someone was happy to see me, even if it was just a dog.

I'd stood there for about five minutes before the door suddenly clicked unlocked and a familiar face popped out of the door.

It was Chad Grier.

I jumped down and straight into a crouch, terrified, scraping my arm and accidentally pushing my clothes into the pool as I dropped. I was frozen in place, struggling to hear him pottering around in their garden over my hammering heart.
