Chapter 25 - A Splodge of Mayonnaise

"Is she alright?" I ask the nurse for the millionth time tonight.

"Miss Ren, you've been here for two hours now, you need to get some rest and I'll contact you as soon as I have news." The lady tells me, rubbing the bridge of her nose with her thumb and forefinger.

"I'm not leaving until I know she's okay." I vow.

After Ally had fallen unconscious, Jack Johnson and Ash (who had been outside and saw her fall) helped me get her into the car and I immediately drove to the hospital whilst Ash called and told them we were on our way.

Ash had stayed with me for a while before her mum called and told her she had to come home. So now I was waiting on my own, the doctors wouldn't tell me anything yet as I wasn't family but they promised that as soon as they had permission from Ally's mum they would let me know.

I took a seat on one of the ugly hard chairs in the waiting area with a few others who were barely awake, I was the complete opposite; buzzed on worry and caffeine.

Looking over at the clock, I realised that it was nearing half one and checked my phone. Sure enough, I had ten missed called from my mother, two from my stepdad and fifteen from my friends - five of the messages were just Nash though.

"Is an Amelia Ren here please?" The secretary person asked from the main desk, I stuck my hand in the air like a child and zoomed over to her.

"Why? Have you got news? Is she alright? Please tell me she's okay?" I demanded.

The lady at the desk have me a gentle smile, "she's okay, darling. I've just been informed that you have permission to know about her condition so if you would please follow Doctor Smarden here-" she tells me, gesturing at a tall man with spiky black hair, "-and he'll explain the situation to you."

I did what I was told and followed the doctor through some corridors before reaching a small square room which was too plain to be cozy.

"So, you're Amelia Ren, yes?" He asked, looking down at some papers he held on a clipboard.

"Yeah, that's me." I replied, taking a seat opposite him and impatiently tapping my foot on the floor.

"And what relation do you have to Miss Allison Kuchta?"

"I'm her best friend and neighbour." I explained, watching as he scribbled on the sheet.

"Okay, could you please sign here and here." He asked, motioning to spaces on the paper as he handed them to me.

"What's this?"

"It's for privacy issues and information if someone needs to see it." He tells me moving over to the window and looking out as I scribbled my signature.

"Now will you tell me what's up with Ally?" I demanded, handing him back his clipboard.

"Okay, from what we've seen, Ally had digested too much alcohol on not enough food, that's the first thing, the second problem that occurred is that she had a minor panic attack. Was she upset about something before she fainted?"

"Erm yes, she fell out with a boy... Why would that matter though?" I asked, crossing one leg over the other as an attempt to stop it from tapping.

"Well, it's probably what made her have the panic attack, which, mixed with the alcohol, is enough to make her faint." He told me.

"But I've fainted before and it's been fine. She wouldn't wake up though. Plus if it's just a faint, why have I been waiting for her to be released for hours without hearing a peep about her condition?"
