I hadn't spoken to Nash since the day at the Fish and Chip restaurant, yet my mind was constantly wandering to him.
I wonder what Nash is doing today? I wonder what Nash would say if he knew I was thinking of him? I wonder if Nash is thinking about me?
I need to stop caring about what he thinks, why should I?
I shook my head as if I could shake the thoughts from my mind, it didn't work. So, instead I concentrated on keeping my focus on the night ahead of me.
Tonight was my double date with Ally, Matt and Shawn.
I was already dressed in ripped jeans and a cute little T-shirt and was yanking at the knots in my hair when Ally sauntered through the bedroom door.
"Hello beauty." she greeted, budging me over so we could share the view in the mirror.
"Hey." I replied, still wrestling the brush through the blonde mop on my head, "When are the boys getting here?"
"There aren't. They decided to meet us there so they could go earlier and buy the tickets or something." Ally explained.
"I see." I said, giving up on my appearance and pulling on my timberlands, Ally joined me minutes later and we headed out the front door to her car.
The journey wasn't long as the fair was taking place on a gigantic field near our street. When we arrived the smell of doughnuts and candy floss consumed me, but I was quickly knocked out of my daze when a man pushed passed me muttering quick apologies and chasing after a little boy with bright blue eyes and dark hair.
The fair took up the majority of the field and whatever empty space left over was replaced with bodies of people of all ages. There were some grandparents sitting down with hot chocolates watching the merry-go-round, there were adults rushing round after small children or handing their kids money so that they could play some games or ride some machines, there were teenagers with too much make-up trying to look cool even though they looked at the rides with a desperate longing and then there were a few small children looking tired but content, it was probably reaching their bedtimes by now.
The actual amusements were rather impressive as well. Multi-coloured lights flared from every direction and sections of music danced over one another from separate rides. The Ferris-wheel stood high above the ground; higher than any other I'd ever seen.
"Earth to Aimee? C'mon, I can see the boys over there." Came Allison's voice as she pulled me alongside her through the mass of people.
"You two took your time!" Called Matt, bouncing over to us and slinging his arm over Ally.
"Sorry, Amelia here was star-gazing." Ally said sarcastically, "Oh my god, Shawn! Did you buy candy floss? You're the best!"
"Yeah, but I only got one for us to share, I didn't know who liked it and who didn't." Shawn explained, handing Ally the bag which she greedily accepted, he then resumed to give me a bear hug and leaned his chin on top of my head.
"How are you, Mils?" He asked softly.
"I'm actually pretty good, you?" I replied, moving my head so that I could smile up at him.
"Even better now." He replied, smiling back, he leaned down then, presumably to kiss me, it kind of happened in slow motion as a rush of thoughts streamed into my head.
Does he want to kiss me? Oh shit, he does! What do I do? If I don't kiss him then I'll make the whole night awkward for us, but if I do I might give him the wrong idea... But why wouldn't I want to kiss him? well, that's obvious, Nash... But I'm not even dating Nash anymore... Okay, I like Shawn and I should do what Ally says and give him a chance. Yes, take a chance!
