The endless ticking of the grandfather clock placed in the corner of our large living room was getting to me now. I had been sitting on the sofa for two hours straight in silence since 4 in the morning while reading my new schoolbooks. Yes, reading schoolbooks- that's how bored I got waiting for my twin brother to come down. I was pumped for the fourth year at Hogwarts, quite the opposite for Draco. He had still not woken up.
My mother and father were already awake, obviously. But, what am I supposed to talk to them about? Deatheater stuff? I'd rather not. I did have one Deatheater thing on my mind though. Voldemort's son. It was the newest gossip between all the Deatheaters, that the Dark Lord himself had planned to send his son to Hogwarts. What was his name again? Matthew? Michael? No, Mattheo. Cute.
'Y/n, breakfast is ready darling.' mum called sweetly from down the long hallway. 'Draco has finally decided to come down.' she added. I half-smiled to myself and made my way past the moving paintings of my ancestors, who were eyeing me like usual. But this time I didn't say anything, my mind was way too overloaded with thoughts, and pure excitement.
I turned a corner into the dining room; a long table placed in the center, surrounded with a bit too many chairs for a family of four. Oh... five- Aunt Bella had joined us today.
Her dark eyes were scanning the room until they fell on me as I tried my best to duck out of view into the kitchen. 'Ah! If it isn't my favourite itty-bitty y/n! Come here darling!' She extended her gloved hands in my direction, as I went in for a reluctant hug before placing myself next to her on the black velvet chair. Draco sat in front of me, trying his best to suppress a giggle. I pulled a face at him as mother gracefully magicked a tray in our direction. Father was sitting at the end of the table, quietly reading the Daily Prophet while sipping tea. 'So, going back to Hogwarts are you?' Auntie asked, stuffing her mouth with waffles while looking out our faces expectantly.
'Yes. I'm quite excited.' I said, putting my hand over my mouth as I chewed a blueberry. Mother had taught us table manners were everything. Auntie shifted her gaze from my direction to Draco's
'Yeah, I'm excited too.' he said absently, which was definitely a lie.
The rest of breakfast passed in stony silence; mother gazed in mine and Draco's direction, her eyes glazed with tears. Aunt Bellatrix kept laughing out of nowhere, casually terrifying all of us for a few seconds. Father continued reading the Daily Prophet, the occasional flipping of newspaper broke the silence. Draco and I constantly argued silently, while kicking each other under the table - father clearly sensed something and hexed us so our legs were glued together. Wasn't the best time of the day-
After an awkward breakfast, Auntie Disapparated back to who-knows-where. The four of us were now off to Platform 9 and 3/4. We then climbed into the sleek Ministry car parked in front of our Manor. One of my favourite peacocks - Pride, had walked to the front of the Manor as well. Father tried to shoo him off, but I stopped him before he could hurt him. 'No, stop! Let me say goodbye!'
I went up to the majestic animal and gave his angelic white body a short-lasting hug before I was pulled away by the collar by my father's cane. I mustered up the dirtiest look and eyed him before I hopped into the car after mother.
Draco and Father sat in the front staring in different directions, mother and I sat in the back. I suddenly felt pretty tired, maybe getting up so early wasn't a good idea... I rested my head on her chest as she stroked my hair gently. The soft groaning of the car slowly started to fade, and I was slowly falling asleep to the sound of my mother's heartbeat...
