TW NEAR THE END: bl00d, mention of d3ath

"You're lying." I said briskly. My eyes glazed with hot tears. "You're lying. How would you know?"

"Y/N I swear I'm not lying. I've been suspicious of Mattheo ever since we met on the train. I know he's helping Voldemort."

"Where's the proof?" I asked angrily. Deep inside I knew something like this was bound to happen, but I desperately wanted to believe it wasn't true - I had to stand my ground, Mattheo isn't like his father; I know he isn't.

"He knew Moody was actually Barty and kept him updated on everything that happened in school. I listened to some of their conversations. Before school started I listened in on a meeting too, Mattheo was put in school so that he could help Barty with Voldemort's mission to kill Harry.." Draco didn't dare to look me in the eye. "I know its a lot but, that's the truth. It's up to you to do what you want now."

"But... Why did he tell me about the plan? It was causing him pain so why did he tell me?"

"That I don't know. I've told you what I know, I don't know anything else." Draco waited in silence for my response. If Mattheo was on Voldemort's side then

"I'm going. What if you're wrong? Then Mattheo will be tortured to death even though he tried to be a better person. I can't let him go through that. I know he's changed, I just know." Truth is, I didn't know - but I had to go.

"What? You're still going to go? Fine, It's up to you. Bye Y/n." Draco looked defeated and just walked away without another word. I felt bad. But I have a plan and I have to go through with it.

I stood in front of the Muggle station, my mind occupied with endless thoughts and worries. I had goosebumps the size of bullets across my arms as I waited patiently for a sleek ministry car to pull up. I didn't know what to do anymore.

The chilly breeze blew my hair in odd directions and I didn't feel very good. I felt sick to the stomach and I had a terrible headache. A jet black car pulled up in front of me, and inside was my mother - she didn't even look at me.  She was looking down at her hands and I could feel pure disappointment radiating from every fibre in her body as I placed myself in the back. "Hello, Y/N." Yep. Pure disappointment dripping from the two words she just uttered like thick, gloopy syrup. The car ride was spent in stony silence. I felt bad for the driver who had to bask in the tension between me and mother.

When we finally reached the Manor, Pride had greeted me with an affectionate nuzzle before I was dragged away by mum. I couldn't see father anywhere and no trace of Mattheo either. "Go upstairs to your room, your father and I will come up and talk to you shortly." she gave me a pitying smile and walked into the dining room. I sulkily walked up the stairs, dragging my trunk up with me. Okay, get it together, get it together. Find Mattheo.

'Y/N?' Oh no, not noww, 'Why are you back so early?' Aunt Bella's cold voice rang out harshly. She cackled, 'Did you get suspended? Silly girl, how did you let yourself get caught?' she shook her head an continued, 'I know why you're here Y/N...' her voice was softer, she was teasing me, her tone was eerie and it made a chill run down my spine. 'You won't find him. YOU'LL NEVER FIND HIM!' she screeched.

'BELLATRIX! LEAVE THIS INSTANT!' Father yelled at her, Aunt Bella immediately quieted down. But an eerie smile was etched on her face. She batted her eyelashes innocently, 'Oh, I'm sowwy, I'm so so sowwy. Sissy, maybe you should try and ask your husband to stop yelling at me, or- or - or-' she started fake crying, 'HE'S GONNA MAKE ME CRYY!' Aunt Bellatrix cackled loudly, as she walked past my parents and down the stairs.

'Y/N. Why are you here? What. Did. You. Do?' I could sense his cold fury. He walked closer to me and looked at me like I was some unwanted pest. 'How could you bring such shame to our family? Getting suspended? Tell me, girl what did you do?' he poked my shoulder with his cane. I hated it when he did that. No, no, no I need to stay calm.

'I used a time turner to cheat on a test.'

'You- WHAT?' He was furious. My heart was throbbing, and I was beginning to re-think everything I had done. '

'Lucius. Lucius, calm down. I'll talk to her. I have tea prepared downstairs, I'll deal with her.' Mum said softly, taking a hold of his shoulder. Father didn't say another word, his face was etched with anger. I was terrified. He left quietly grumbling under his breath. 'I know why you're here darling, it's not worth it. You won't find him.'

How did she know? How did Auntie know? How did they know?

'How do you know? You don't know a thing.'

'Mattheo told me when he was brought in. He knew you were going to come after him.' Mum tucked my hair behind my ear. 'Oh Y/N, he's gone. He's not coming back...'

'No, no. NO. NO. NO. HE'S NOT GONE YOU'RE LYING TO ME!'

'Calm down. He's gone.' she was losing her patience.

He can't be gone.

How could our story end before it even started? How could this even happen...

No. They're all lying. They have to be.

A scream rang out downstairs. Our eyes met. I didn't say anything to mum and dashed downstairs before she could grab me.

NO NO NO NO NO. Mattheo. He's there. Right there.

Lying peacefully on the floor, in a still red pool surrounded by Death Eaters. No... There was a huge gash across his chest, soaking his shirt with bright red blood, and his face seemed serene and untouched. He was gone. Dead...
