Chapter 32

Axel's POV:

After I had entered sub space, I woke up the next day feeling a little more grounded. More like myself. As the week has gone on I felt anxiety as the practices for football got more intense. Today was Friday, the day of the start of playoffs. I felt sick to my stomach as the hours counted down. Maddi was keeping Alexis off my back and Jaxon and Grant were a big help during major anxiety attacks. I haven't told them what it was that was causing it which is really starting to piss Grant off, but if I told him, he would possibly not let me play.

The final bell rang, signaling the end of school. We had two hours before we had to come back to school to get ready for the game. I was even more nervous over it because my Dad's and Kyle, Jeremy, and Sophia all said they were coming. Which was the only time I have spoken to my Father since he yelled at me. I followed our little group out of the school and to our cars. We stood in a group while they all talked and I bounced on my heels a bit.

"Hey, your birthday is tomorrow right?" Jaxon asked.

"Uh.. Yeah. Why?" I answered, forcing myself to still.

"Well no one's mentioned what you want yet, so any ideas?"

"You don't have to get me anything." I said, shrugging.

"Uh.. Yeah I do. You're my best friend. I can't just not get you anything."

"The only thing I want, no one else can give me, so it's fine."

Jaxon looked confused.

"We had this conversation already Jax..." I chuckled.

"Oh. The getting better part. Right." He nodded.

I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Besides I'm turning 19, not exactly a major birthday."

"Well fine then, be no help. I'll find something myself." He smirked.

I narrowed my eyes. "You buy me lingerie and it will be shoved so far up your own ass not even Jeremy will find it." I threatened.

He laughed. "I wasn't even going to!"

"Just a warning... to you all then." I shrugged.

Grant snorted from besides me.

"What's that Snorty McSnortaton?"

"Nothing." He smiled down at me.

"I'm hungry. Any of you wanna go grab something to eat before we gotta be back here?" Jaxon asked.

I shook my head at the same time Grant said sure. Maddi nodded her head in agreement.

"Come on, you haven't eaten much of anything today." Grant nudged me towards his jeep.

I groaned but went willingly. I climbed in the jeep and Madi and Jaxon climbed in the back so we could take one car versus three.

"Where do we wanna go? Jeremy wants to meet us." Jaxon said.

"Mcdonalds?" Maddi suggested.

"Sure." Grant agreed.

I watched out the window as Grant started driving. Ignoring his hand on my leg, which got a squeeze when I tried to move away. Mcdonald's was a short drive from the school so we arrived and Grant parked next to Jeremy. We all exited the vehicle and started towards the door. I dodged Grant's hand when he reached for me and shoved my hands in my pockets. Thankfully tonight was a home game so we didn't have to dress up and I was wearing jeans.

"Axel?" Grant pulled my elbow until I stopped walking. Our group stopped walking just outside the door. "What's going on?"

"Nothing. I'm fine."
