Grant's POV:
"I need people to go in and search both the bathroom connected to our room and the downstairs bathroom and his music room. He just told me he has blades and gauze hidden and he wants someone to take them."
"He feels like he's going to hurt himself?" His Dad asked.
I nodded. "He said the urge is there and wants me to make sure he can't. I'm going to try to get him into headspace. He said he's trying but there's too much noise in his head and he can't do it himself."
"Okay." His father's and Matt all headed inside to go look for what needed to be taken.
"I won't let him be alone at all tonight." Jaxon said, steeling himself.
"I'm not going to keep you away from him, Jax. You don't have to prepare to fight me. You're his best friend and sometimes you give him something he doesn't need from me. I've already told him he's not allowed to be alone tonight and he's already agreed."
The sound of a door opening behind me drew my attention. I turned as Axel cracked the door to his truck.
"I appreciate you all talking about me but I'm getting cold and I need to get something to eat. My blood sugar is at 74." He called out.
"Yeah. Of course." I walked over to him and reached in unbuckling him.
I helped him out and he walked over like nothing was going on as he jumped on Jaxon's back for a piggy back ride.
"Onward, steed!" He pointed to the house.
"Of course, your Majesty." Jaxon wrapped his hands around Axel's thighs before pretending to gallop over to the stairs.
Jeremy helped keep them steady as Jaxon walked up the stairs and onto the porch, going through the open door. Everyone else followed quietly behind them as Jaxon carried him to the kitchen. Despite what other people may think, they used to be close until high school. When Axel got the Varsity starting QB position is when they really grew apart. Part of it was definitely jealousy but I think the bigger part was that Axel got too busy and they didn't have the same practices. Freshman year was hard for me because I didn't make varsity and watching from the sidelines was hard because I always worried when I wasn't out there with him. I could play both tight end and offensive lineman so I was used to protecting his blind side and that year we hardly had time for each other during football. Jaxon and him had no time. It was nice to see that they were back together and closer than ever.
Little did Axel know that Jaxon had also been offered an academic scholarship for Notre Dame, so we may all end up together again next year too. I trailed behind as I tried to figure out what to do to help him. Jeremy had gotten the packet after Axel took off and the pictures of Axel and Alexis were in fact not the only thing in there. The rest of the photos only had Axel's face and the other person's body. But it was clear that he had in fact been raped by two separate people that night, a fact I wouldn't be sharing with him until tomorrow. One that his little speech to me already showed he was assuming.
"I think we still have some oranges. That works until the pizza gets here. OH! I forgot! My demo CD came in this morning." Axel said as he slid off Jaxon's back.
I watched him for any signs that he was going to start crying but so far besides his eyes being a little glassy and him looking obviously sad, there weren't any outwardly obvious signs he was struggling. I was extremely grateful for that and grateful for the fact that Jeremy owns a Law firm and already has his best guys researching this. They had reached out to the police on Jeremy's behalf and that was something they would be interviewing us all on tomorrow.
