After we order out food, Nate grabs both of my hands and interlocks our fingers. "What is your biggest fear?" he asks me. "Dying without love" I say in response. "If it's up to me, the won't happen. I can see us together, Lucy. I can see us sitting on our back porch looking at the ocean, watching our grandchildren play in the sand. We'll be old and grey and in love. You probably think I'm crazy. But you're different Lucy. This is all happening so fast, but I know I'm already falling for you." I smile at him because he's saying all the right things. "I can see it too Nate. That old couple in the diner that everyone looks to as goal to make it to." I continue to go on and on about us being a cute old couple and Nate is staring my eyes, probably not even comprehending what I'm saying. But I'm ok with it. After we eat, Nate pays for our food and we make our way out and to the car. I'm not sure where we're going next. We start to drive and Nate his hand on my thigh. "Can I ask you something babe?" Nate asks. "Of course." "Did anything ever happen between you and Matt? Like seeing that you guys have been friends for so long, did you guys ever have a drunk hook up?" I know he's asking seriously and not because he's typical guy. I was hoping he wouldn't ask this. I know if we dated I would have to discuss it at some point, I just didn't think we'd have to talk about it so soon. I focus on breathing for a moment because I start to get stressed. "You ok?" he asks. "Yeah, sorry. It's just a touchy subject." "Oh I'm sorry.. You don't have to tell me." "No it's ok.. Matt and I promised we wouldn't ever tell anyone about this night unless we were telling the person we could see ourselves being with. And I see that for us. So I'm going to tell you." "Are you sure? You really don't have to tell me.." I can tell he really does want to know but is just being polite. "I'm sure, Nate." I take a deep breath and then I begin. "It was June 16th, 2014. The worst day of my entire life
