NINA
Alright! Maybe that wasn't such a good idea in doing what I did, but in all fairness, he should have apologized from yesterday, though two wrongs don't make it right. Doesn't matter, I found my closure and am able to move on from it.
Then again, on the other hand, I should have not done that mainly because he is my boss's boss who can easily fire me over something like that, which is the LAST thing I want to have done. So I guess while taking my first break, I will apologize, or if I walk past him, I will.
A couple of hours had gone by and I haven't seen him yet. Then my lunch break hits and I am starving since I skipped breakfast this morning.
Normally I'm just a granola bar kind of a girl and occasionally will make a bowl of cereal but, I don't get hungry as much as when lunchtime and dinner come around. Today, in particular, I had brought in a grinder sandwich with some chips, a pack of nuts, and a Pepsi that I grabbed from the deli last night.
I walked down to the park just a few feet from our hotel that was beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. The grass is always cut and a bright green, the flowers and trees planted are always mesmerizing and nice to enjoy and this is a place I feel I can relax and forget about the world for a moment. This place I can truly think about things. I just wish that Lance and Mercedes both had the same lunch breaks as I did.
I was enjoying my lunch and watching a few videos on social media for a few moments when I reached into my purse to grab my drink. I looked up for a second (if that) and right away was surprised to see him walking towards me in a sexy type of way, wearing a nice dark blue business suit, sunglasses with his hair slicked back, and holding a fast-food bag. 'Oh my gosh, please don't sit next to me.' I repeated to myself in my head.
Damn universe, mind your own damn business. That's what I started immediately thinking as soon as he smiled at me and then took a seat on the other end of the bench that was only a couple of feet away.
I wasn't going to let him ruin my break, so I just ignored him and took a few sips of my drink before continuing to watch the video I was watching as I continued eating also.
However, it took not even ten seconds later before he said something to me.
"Looks like I got the wrong lunch." He jokes.
"Huh?" I replied as I removed my earbuds.
"Sorry, I was just saying that your lunch looks much better than mine." He smiles a little at me.
"Oh, thanks but, yours looks good too." I reply.
We both share a brief moment of silence and continue taking bites of our food when he starts talking to me again.
Why is he making me feel nervous all of a sudden?
"You know, I wanted to apologize for the other day and the elevator. I was having a bad morning and was agitated but, should have still held the elevator and I'm sorry if you were late for that." He says.
Is he tricking me? Did someone put him up to this? Is he genuinely sorry for doing that? I guess I won't know but since he apologized, I guess I should as well.
"Yeah, well, it was pretty childish for me to do it back." I apologize.
"Eh, I deserved it." He shrugged his shoulders.
We sat there for the rest of my break and didn't talk much but yet the company wasn't so bad neither.
Next, my alarm goes off to let me know I only have ten minutes left to clock back in for my shift.
"Well, I have to get back to work, but thanks for the apology." I smiled and he had his mouth full it looked like and he just nodded his head and smirked a little while I headed back.
Wow, maybe he isn't a jerk after all. Well, at least we could start all over and hopefully just be more respectful with each other at work and things won't be so awkward or anything.
Throughout the rest of my shift, things were going good and after grabbing my things from the locker in the employee's lounge, Mercedes was just walking in doing the same thing and like always, was very energetic still even after a long day of working that she and Lance both suggested we all go out for drinks tonight.
I personally was feeling beat and wasn't like them to where I could go out the night before and wake up the next morning for work and be okay too. So I just told her I would think about it.
"Okay, that's a yes." She laughs.
"And how do you know I'll change my mind?" I asked her as we walked up towards the bar before we all headed back to our place.
"Because we know you. We know you are a bit of a homebody for the most part but really, deep down you know you want to go out and have fun with us like you always do." She mentions.
I guess she had a point. There is a part of me that isn't used to going out and am more of a staying-at-home kind of person but in reality, when I'm around them, I always have a good time and realize they are right. Though they never pressure me to go out, however, when she tries to nudge at me or Lance does, like she is right now, she knows I really want to go out. So I always give in.
"Alright, fine. You're right. I really could use some time out of the apartment." I rolled my eyes playfully.
"I knew it. See, why fight it?!" She laughs it off with me while she throws her arm over my shoulder and we go meet up with Lance.
