NINA

During these last few days this week, time really has really flown by and it's already the weekend.

Throughout the entire plane ride over, to my small town, I felt I was becoming more nervous the closer we got because of my father mainly. Not to mention the fact that we are risking people posting on the internet about Lelan being with me during this trip and who knows.

Once we arrived, with Lelan's hand in mine, we began walking through the airport towards the car rental place and got our car and with just a couple of hours to spare before we could check-in to our hotel, I received a text from my mom, replying to my recent text in letting her know we landed safely.

She suggested, or I should actually say 'insisted' we come over right now and wouldn't take no for an answer.

This one I was leaving up to Lelan to decide for us.

"Babe, whatever you want to do." He says.

Yeah, THAT was so helpful.....NOT.

"I guess since we can't check-in to our room for another couple of hours and since we need to meet them anyways, I guess this would be okay." I decideD.

We weren't very far from the house anyways and to be honest, the closer we got to the house, I started feeling a bit better than expected because a flood of good and happy memories came back to me and also, I started realizing that this is the first time I have brought a boyfriend over to meet them that they didn't already know things about. Well, I'm sure after they meet him, they will recognize him from online or from what others have mentioned to her since she doesn't go on the internet really except for emails.

The moment we pulled up and got out, Lelan took my hand into his and gave me a quick kiss on the lips before we started walking towards the door.

We weren't even at the porch yet when the door opened up and my mother was practically running out to see me and she hugged me tightly.

"Oh MY God, I have missed you!!" She says to me.

"I've missed you too!" I tell her.

"And thanks for the gift." She tells me.

"You already opened it?" I asked.

"No. But I saw who the package was for and knew it had to be it. Don't worry, I will wait until tomorrow." She says.

She looks Lelan up and down and right when he holds out his hand she just hugs him.

"Oh no. We are a hugging family." She smiles as she hugs him and he hugs her back with a chuckle.

Before she steps back, I notice her saying something quietly in his ear that I didn't hear and telling by the look on her face, she said something. He then looked at me and smirked with a wink.

"Mom." I try and get her attention.

"What? I was just welcoming him properly and just warning him not to hurt you or else." She then smirked and winked at him.

We started to follow her inside the house and I right away noticed my dad wasn't anywhere in sight.

"Where's dad?" I ask out of being polite.

"He's in his man cave out back in the shed. You should go talk to him." She suggests.

I look at Lelan then back at my mom again before I agree and start making my way outside.

Every step I took towards it, I felt myself become surprisingly less nervous and tried to approach me talking to him in a different way and to try and not bring up the past.

The door to the shed was already halfway opened and I knew he had to be working on something as I stood there a few feet behind him with his back turned towards me.

"Hi dad." I start.

It takes him a moment and a brief look out the corner of his eye over the shoulder until he turns around and faces me.

"Hey." He awkwardly replies before turning back around and continues putting together something.

"I brought my boyfriend with me. Mom's inside, probably talking his ear off." I nervously chuckle.

I stood there for a brief moment longer before deciding that this was ridiculous to even try and make an attempt to start over, but I guess it's a fail.

So I just just scoff then turn to start heading back inside but then after taking three steps, I turned back around and walked towards him.

"You know what dad? I know that I let you down and disappointed you by not wanting to take over the family business. And sure, maybe the way I left was not the right way. But it truly has hurt me every day knowing that I made you feel that way. And even though I am close to mom, yours and my relationship, I always felt closer to you. Lelan and I are only going to be here until Sunday and then we're heading back to the city. So if you could possibly, even one time, say hi to him, that would be great. Maybe one day you and I can even talk again - like old times." I finish telling him.

Then right after turning on my heel to head back into the house, that was when I heard him ear his throat and say something.

"I was never disappointed in you, Pumpkin." He tells me.

Right after saying that, he turned back around to look at me again as I began feeling confused.

"But then why haven't you talked to me since I left?" I ask.

"Because I'm stubborn. But mostly I was what you said I was - disappointed and let down but, none of it was at you. All of that was in myself. There were so many times I wanted to pick up the phone or join the chat with your mom and you. I just, could never bring myself to do it." He starts telling me.

Throughout the next couple of hours, we sat there in his shed and apologized while talking about Lelan and FINALLY moving past all the bullshit from before.

I think I finally got my dad back.

Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
