CHAPTER 22: I Could Get Used To This

Despite feeling a bit taken back when Nina's mom told us that she invited some of their family over, I know that all together, everything will be alright.

Nina wanted to get a cake from the local bakery and pick up some things in town for the party, so her and I went and I have to say that it was real nice getting a look around the town where she grew up at.

The bakery was the last place we needed to go to and while waiting in line, my phone went off. I saw it was my uncle, so I excused myself and went outside to answer it.

"Hey." I answered.

"Hi. I just wanted to call and tell you that the deals went through and we now have the investments we need to help us out." He states.

"Good. That's great." I replied.

"And thanks to your ideas, I had pitched them to one of the new investors and they want to meet you next month. Also, I want to congratulate you on all of your reports. It seems you're doing great with running the hotel." He compliments.

Wow! I haven't heard him compliment me that good for a long time.

"Thanks." I replied real happy.

"Well, just wanted to tell you the good news and that I will see you at the end of next month." He says.

"Alright. See you then." I tell him before we both hang up.

I felt happier than I have in a long time and yet a bit surprised because again, I have never heard him compliment me with that and the fact he liked my ideas and believed in them so much that he pitched them to where a new investor in our company is wanting to meet me, I have no words.

Moments later, Nina came walking out of the bakery carrying the cake and I took it from her hands as we walked towards the car. Then while driving back to the house, I tell her about what my uncle had said and The excitement she had for me was something I have never had a girl do before and I like it.

When we returned to the house, we decorated a little bit and prepared some things for the gathering and a couple of hours later, the first knock on the door came and many more followed as people came flooding inside the house and I was suddenly being introduced and meeting her family and were very nice and humble.

Just being around Nina's family and the way she acted around them all, I realized at a point that I have completely, undoubtedly, fallen for this girl more than I thought was possible.

One of the highlights from tonight was the fact that whether or not they knew who I was, they treated me normal and not someone that has a lot of money. They weren't phased at all.

Then my favorite moment of the entire night was when her mother opened my gift.
She opened it last and it seemed like everybody gasped as soon as they noticed what it was.

Her mother stared at it speechless for a while before looking up and I saw tears in her eyes.

"How did you know?" She asked me.

"Nina told me several things about you and one of them was what happened to your original one and I had someone make the exact replica, based on Nina's description." I tell her.

She tears up a bit more and then  Stands up, sets it down into the side table beside her and hugs me tightly.

"Thank you." She tells me.

"You're welcome." I chuckled while hugging her back.

We next sang Happy Birthday and once everybody had left and her parents both went to bed, Nina and I sat down on the couch near the fireplace with a nice fire going while sipping wine.

"Thank you for all of this." She says.

"Of course. I love you and your family seem to like me a lot." I half joke.

"They do. Tonight was a lot of fun and it was really nice for all of us to see each other again." She tells me.

Tomorrow we both were not looking forward to because it meant that we had to leave and we agreed earlier on that neither of us wanted to leave yet, but reality awaits us.

You know, I truthfully wouldn't mind living in a small town like this. The atmosphere is a lot better and less chaotic, but, who knows what our future will hold.
