NINA
It's been a good few days since we have been back and I was so happy and excited to hear the good news that Lelan's uncle told him while at my parents house.
Everything went better than I thought it would over the last weekend and I couldn't be happier. It also was a plus that my parents and family liked him too.
When Lelan told me his uncle was coming back into town, he mentioned about how his uncle wanted to see him and I guess last night his uncle had arrived late but was going to stop by the hotel and look in on things. So we both decided that he spend some time with him and I would just see him later.
I did my job as usual with no distractions and decided to not even clean his suite until tomorrow. Then, my Manager, Mr. Slautton approached me while I was cleaning a room and asked me to come out and speak with him privately.
So we went out into the hallway and he told me that Mr. Warrington would like to speak with you in his suite." He says.
"Right now?" I asked.
"Yes." He says.
"Did he say why?" I asked curiously.
"No. But it's best not to keep him waiting " he winked and smiled.
I thought that was a weird gesture but I just ignored it and began making my.way upstairs to Lelan's suite.
My thoughts started goin throughout my head while walking towards the suite door after getting off the elevator and I started thinking that maybe he wanted to tell his uncle about him and I being together since he said he would wait until we both were together to tell him.
That is of course, if his uncle hasn't found out yet. I'm sure even on his flight back, he has read the gossip or at least heard about it already.
Either way, doesn't matter, because with Lelan there beside me, things will be fine.
I knocked on the door and heard an older gentleman's deep husky voice call out for me to 'come in.'  So I opened up the door and once I stepped inside, I didn't see Lelan anywhere but I did however see his uncle (who I recognized from the magazines and internet).
"Hello, you must be Nina." His uncle stated.
"Yes. And you are, Mr. Warrington? Lelan's uncle?" I presumed.
"Yes." He smiled then walked over and shook my hand before gesturing for me to take a seat across from him on the couch.
"Where's Lelan?" I asked nervously.
"He'll be here eventually." He states.
"Okay." I replied.
"Let me get straight to the point. I arrived late last night and was informed or should I say, was caught up on the latest gossip." He says while holding up a magazine with a picture of Lelan and I.
"That's such a horrible picture of me." I tried to make a joke. However, he wasn't laughing.
"Listen Nina, I know that you probably think you have struck gold by attracting my nephew and would love nothing more than to get a hold of his money, trust me, I know the kind he likes. But I'm wanting to make things very clear to you about this situation.  I want you to call it off. Tonight." He says in a demanding tone.
"With all do respect Mr. Warrington, I am not some gold digger. I could care less about how much money he has because I was raised better than that. Second of all, we are in love with each other and I know for a fact that despite what you are WANTING to have me do, I know for a fact that Lelan would never agree to this. So I guess in short answer, NO. I will not being doing that." I fire back at him and excuse myself then walk towards the door.
Before I get to the door handle though, he stops me.
"I will give you cash, right now, for twenty-thousand dollars, for you to break it off." He states.
Who the hell does this guy think he is?! Well, doesn't matter because he is about to find out who I am.
"There is no amount of money in the world, that will make me change my mind. So please, stop while you're ahead." I warn him.
He stands there for a brief moment and smirks for some odd reason.
"And what would your father say?" He mentions.
"Excuse me?!?" I asked him.
"I would hate to see what would happen to your father's business in the next week." He threatens.
"What are you saying?" I asked him with my arms crossed over my chest.
"I'm just letting you know that it would be a shame if after all these years of hard work your father has put in to his business, if someone was to buy the businesses in your town and make room for more chances of income, that would mean he would lose everything." He states.
I felt my heart drop to the bottom of my stomach. I wasn't sure what to say or do right now. Then finally I figured out what to say.
"Lelan wouldn't...." I started to protest but he interrupted me.
"He was part of this deal." He fires back real fast.
"I don't believe you." I reply trying to call his bluff.
"Why else do you think he would go to you and your small town? Did you really think it was to meet your family and was doing you a favor?" He asks.
I didn't want to believe him but the longer I stood here, seeing he wasn't changing his look or demeanor any time soon, something told me he may be right.
"Here..." He starts telling me while handing me a copy of a paper that looked to be a contract and Lelan's signature, along with a check for how much it would take to keep my father's business going for the rest of his life and be able to have a good retirement.
There are so many questions and emotions I have right now that I'm not sure in what to think.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
