We were resting on his bed while he held his laptop on his lap, but made sure we were both in view. Of course not only was his father there but so was mine.
"And now, these poor, pale children want me and Anastasia to join their hiding club." Emil finished explaining.
"It is a very sad looking club they have made." I added.
"Anastasia you are meant to protect him."
"I know father. And I have been, these have happened every time I needed to do something and Maxemil decided to try and solve these without me being around." I explained.
"I suppose these were out of your control. Try and see these do not happen again."
"Yes father." I told before the king spoke up.
"Son, you are not the only one who has dealt with a bully. Did I ever tell you about your great-great-grandfather?"
"Adolfo the gaseous?"
"Indeed. But he was not born gaseous. And therein lies the tale." He said before clapping his hands together. "PUPPETEERS!"
"Oh, I love when you break out the puppets." Emil told as we both smiled.
'I have missed them.'
"A long time ago, the Flemlandians were raiding our cabbage fields. So, king Adolfo challenges the king of Flemlandia to a contest of his choosing. Unfortunately, he chose pickled egg-eating. Somehow, through sheer grit and determination, your great-great-grandfather ate 137 eggs and bested the Flemlandian king at his own game. Burp is was saved!"
"Yes!"
"But the silver in the eggs turned Adolfo into a walking fart. To this day, some say, you can still smell his ghostly gasses."
"And to think, all this time. I have been blaming Iago."
"Are we sure Iago is completely innocent?" I questioned.
"Oh, believe me, Iago is not blameless" he told before we saw Iago slap him.
"Thank you, father. I see now that a great leader must stand up for his people, no matter the personal cost. I know what I must do." Emil told as he began to shut his laptop only to be stopped by his father.
"Wait! I have another story for you. About yesterday, when I could not find my reading glasses. PUPPETEERS!"
"Well, as long as it is quick." Emil said but I could tell what was going to happen.
"It is not."
'Aren't they always on his head?'

~half an hour later....or an hour I've lost the concept of time~

We were still resting on the bed and we were both extremely bored, and so was my father from the looks of it.
"And so, after crisscrossing the palace, I discovered my glasses were around my neck the entire time!"
"Just like last time." We both told wanting it to end.
"You know, when we were younger Maxwell always laughed at me not knowing."
"I still do. I do not understand how you do not feel them on your head."
"I am forgetful."
"And yet you are a king." He told making the two chuckle.
I gave Emil the signal making him quickly getting to where he needed to end the call.
"Great story must go." We both told
"No wait!" His father called before Emil ended the call and placed his laptop away from him.
"We should have left before the glasses story. It is always on his head." I stated.
"That is true."
"But it does appear our fathers are missing us. More so yours then mine."
"I'm sure Maxwell is missing you. He hides his emotions better then others." Emil stated.
"I suppose."
Before anymore was said Teddy ran in holding a bag, of course confusing the two of us.
"You told Spitzak I was talking trash about him?"
"Of course not. I merely mentioned you thought he was a bully, a con artist, and pure evil. And good news, you were right."
"Oh loose moose." I spoke facepalming at it.
"Great, I spent years trying to stay off Spitzak's radar, and now, because of you, he's downstairs in the bowling alley!"
"He's here?!" I exclaimed
"Do not worry, Teddy. After talking to mine and Anna's father and his puppets,...."
"Don't ask." I told
"I have decided to confront Spitzak."
"What now?" I asked since I was unaware he had decided that.
"Confront? Spitzak? Puppets? What? What are you talking about?"
"Again. Don't ask."
"You're only going to make it worse."
"Well, you cannot hide forever."
"Believe that was his plan Emil."
"Oh, I can't try."
"Exhibit a."
"Now, help me get into this backpack."
"Teddy no!"
"Thank you Anna."
"If I have learnt anything from my family. Is you will need a bigger bag you would have grown from the last time you were in one."
"Really?" Emil questioned looking at me.
"I'm only really meant to stop you and your decisions. If Teddy wants to hide in a bag and be a coward, so he doesn't have to face his fears, then I have no say for him to do otherwise." I explained.
"I will fix this. I know what I have to do." Emil told before leaving and I rushed after him.
"Maxemil, I advise to stop and think about this. I mean, why would you confront him?"
"I need to do this. I need to prove I can run a kingdom and protect the people I love and care for. I need to know I can protect you." He told as he cupped my face.
"Emil, my job is to protect you. You have never needed to protect me."
"I know. But I want to protect you like how you protect me. I know what I have to do." He told before kissing my forehead and continued to make his way to where Spitzak was.
"Emil!" I called as I rushed after him again.
He made his way towards him and I was quick to stay behind him.
"Mr.Spitzak, I've got a bone to pick with you."
"Hey,pal." He said as he stood up and I made sure I would be able to quickly stop him if he went to try and hurt Emil. "How you liking that finger puppet?"
"We have grown quite close. But that is irrelevant." He told as he pointed a finger at him which held the puppet.
'I feel like this is not going to end well."
"I hereby demand you return my $20, along with all the other ill-gotten gains you have procured from your fellow students."
"Okay, fancy words. I'll give you everything back. For 20 bucks." He told as he held a hand out.
"Well, that was surprisingly eas.....Wait."
"Emil, I suggest thinking very carefully on what you say next."
"If you are unwilling to right your wrongs, then I have no choice but to challenge you to a battle of your choosing."
'Oh no...."
"A battle?"
"Hey, guys. This kid is standing up to Spitzak!" Susie shouted having them revealing their hiding spots.
'Was not expecting that.'
"Okay. You wanna throw down? How about a good old-fashioned warehouse towel fight?"
"He's really good at that." Susie told
"Are you sure I cannot tempt you with a pickled egg-eating contest?"
'Of course that was what he was hoping for.'
"What? No. Weird. Four o'clock. Bowman's scrap warehouse. Bring a towel."
He began to walk off before he grabbed a kids ice cream licking it, before he threw it away.
"Emil." I told making him look towards me. "I think you may have taken away the wrong message of that story and done the wrong thing."
"I'm thinking that as well." He told.
We turned around to see Susie there making Emil have a scared look on his face.
"You're so brave."
"Thank you."
She begins to slowly move towards him which made him move back and I held an uncomfortable look for having to be around this.
"What's happening? Are we about to kiss?"
She moved in more but Emil quickly moved to hide behind me and hold onto my arm as he held an uncomfortable look on his face, and it seemed like she was not going to stop.
"Um, no."
She quickly moved away and went back to her smile from before.
"Oh. Sorry, misread the situation. Good luck." She said before she walked of leaving me and Emil there.
"I was worried I was going to need to stop her." I stated.
"I was worried she was going to keep trying."
"And we wouldn't want your girlfriends at home being betrayed by someone kissing you." I stated.
"You are never going to let me live that down."
"Never. Not as long as I live."
"You are a cruel friend. But I love it." He told making us both smile.
