2 Days until the attack, 21 knots from ENE, 79°F
The UK just declared war upon 3 states in Europe, to assist the Soviets/the Northern Parliament. God, it's becoming a shitshow overseas.
My midmorning coffee grows cold as Belfast and I pound our way through more paperwork. We've been busy, especially after the meeting with the Queen of the Navy and the King of England. Fortunately, it's not overwhelming us, and we do take breaks regularly, so we don't die in our seats.
I commissioned what is essentially just a huge hole in the earth to store the overflow of aviation fuel and oil we have. Took a lot of work, and I definitely needed a shower after that, but thank God it's done.
God, my hands hurt.
???: "Commander?"
I look up. Repulse is at the door, with a green-eyed girl behind her. Arizona. Now, she looks like Hirata. It's... eerie how similar those two are...
"Ah, Repulse, Arizona. Welcome. Nightmares?"
Arizona, shaking her head: "No... It's more... visions?"
Repulse: "'Zona here had been having these dreams where the base is attacked. Eerily realistic, she says. And from what she says, it's to happen in 2 days or so."
"Ah, so you've been having the same feelings, too, Arizona?"
Arizona, with a concerned and confused expression: "Huh?"
"I've been getting an ominous feeling these past few days. I hope they mean nothing... but better safe than sorry."
--
<<< Starting today, at noon, I want a small onset of girls to survey the local area with radars on. Leave no stone unturned. We'll work in shifts. If anything seems even remotely off, report it to me or Belfast. This is no drill. I fear the worst. >>>
The announcement I made rings throughout the base, as girls truly learn about my greatest boon and bane, both as a Commander and as a person: my caution.

Belfast: "Oh, Jason."
"да?"
Belfast: "Here."
She hands me a letter... Wait. This is...
"The Seal of the Realm?"
How did a letter come from the British state?
I crack open the letter and read the contents.
---
To Commander Jason Davis of the Azur Lane,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am Warspite, second of the Queen Elizabeth-class of Battleships. I am writing for both myself and Her Majesty.
According to what she said, you are a far better fit for the rank of "Commander" than expected. Wonderful. Now, to the purpose of this letter.
With permission from King George VI, Her Majesty and I would like to join you in the frontlines. Minister Churchill and King George VI can handle the war effort.
Please give your response to Miss Belfast, and I can't wait to assist your war effort.
Sincerely,
HMS Warspite George

Another letter was attached. Opening it...
---
Commander Davis,
Although I'm concerned for my daughters, Liz and Warspite, I know they truly desire this.
I know about your past, Davis. Just remember: you are not Howell Davis. You are yourself. Just like how I am not like my father.
Still, make both your countries proud. Both the United States and Wales.
Prince George VI
P.S.
I'll be sure to mention you to HMS Prince of Wales. I'm certain she would love to meet you.
---
First off: thank God I learned how to read cursive. Otherwise, this'd be very difficult.
Second off: How the hell did they write and send a physical letter half-way across the world in less than 24 hours?!
Third off: who the fuck is Howell Davis?
Belfast: "What does it say?"
I place them down and start typing away on my typewriter (because of course I have one).
"'To HMS Queen Elizabeth, HMS Warspite, and King George VI,'"
I can hear Belfast's gasp.
"'I graciously accept your propositions. I swear to you...'"
I will make you proud. You have my word.

Yee-haw!
This chapter was mostly for setups and stuff, but that was fun. George, Warspite and Liz will be prominent players once the Q.E.-class arrives to base, but that won't be for a while.
I will not waste my time typing Q.E. and Warspite's journey across the Atlantic & Pacific (alongside whatever ships they may bring, at a cruising speed of 12 knots), because it'd be kinda boring, but I imagine it to be:
- From Gloucester, they follow the river out to avoid the English Channel and the worst of the Blitz
- From there, they head to New York. (10 days)
- They'll then hop on a cross-continental train ride to Los Angeles (If we assume that the trip is continuous without stopping, and is funded by the US Gov't, it's about a 50-hour trip with change)
- Long Beach is a good place to set off, so they use the beach to head off to Honolulu (8 days)And that's the itinerary. If all goes to this plan, they'll reach Pearl Harbor in about 20 days, 20 hours or so. The extra 8 hours is heading to Gloucester from London, the ride from NY Harbor to the station, getting lost in LA and positioning themselves into the Harbor itself.
So don't expect more Royal girls for a while. You're stuck with Sheffield, Little Bel, Belfast, Repulse, Illustrious, Unicorn and Javelin. Though some might not see this as bad.
