???

I can feel the light weight of a thin blanket, the surprising firmness (and noisiness) of a mattress, the feeling of life. I open my eyes to a black void, devoid of any semblance of reality or logic therein. Looking downwards, I see a bed. Rudimentary, but it's a bed.

Sitting up, I see what appears to be a pathway of wood and another bed. Standing on the 'floor,' I walk along the path to the other bed. Looking at the bed provides nothing, so I walk to the door. However, before I get there, I trip on my own feet (like a dumbass) and land into the void.

Or so I thought. Apparently, the black void is just a place I have yet to touch, and when I do, more of that surface is revealed to me. Neat.

I walk around, touching every little thing I can until it is all revealed. While walking around, I find a closet containing my outfit. No wonder I feel so... off. Putting it on and placing my cap on top of my head, I walk towards the door leading to a hallway. It seems someone else is here and has explored this hall.

Three doors are at the end of the hall: the one on the right leads to a bathroom, the one situated on the left is locked, and the centre one leads into an entertainment room of sorts (with the ceiling lamp's design, I'm guessing it's an entertainment room). There stands the one who brought me here.

"Alpha, it isn't good to see you alive."

Alpha, turning around with a smug face: "Same to you, Davis."

"So, where the hell are we?"

Alpha: "I don't know. I woke up in a room maybe 15 minutes ago in this weird place."

"I see." I look around. "...I'm guessing we're dead or something."

Alpha: "It would appear so..."

I sigh. "What the hell happened...?"

Alpha: "Well, we both touched the Black Wisdom Cube at the same time, and we ended up here. This is interesting..."

"...No point worrying about it now. Since this is the afterlife, or some rendition of, we can't kill each other. Death is meaningless now."

I look around, touching every little thing, revealing a pool table.

"...Wanna play some pool to pass the time?"

Alpha: "...Okay."

--

We're currently in the midst of a third round of pool. I had the pleasure of sinking stripes this game, whereas Alpha needs to sink solids. She has 4 solids to sink: the yellow 1, red 3, purple 4, and maroon 7. All I need is to sink the black 8 to win.

"I'm going for that corner pocket."

Alpha: "Yeah, good luck with that. How're you gonna pass my wall of solids?"

"Like so."

Aligning my shot and adding a hint of curve, I take the shot, hitting the cue ball to strike the black 8, which slips by the purple and maroon balls and falls into the corner pocket.

"And that's the game. Sorry, girlie."

Alpha: "What the– How the hell'd you do that, Davis?"

"When you're a bored Lieutenant on a rainy day with other bored Lieutenants, you break out the pool set and have some fun." I sit on the table, holding the stick over my shoulder like a baseball bat. "Wanna try something else?"

Alpha: "Can we go back to killing each other?"

Before I was able to respond, however, somebody coughs, grabbing our attention.
