June 11, 1942

Pearl Harbour

I wake up and reflect on the events of the previous evening. A security guard alerted both myself and Helena of the spy's existence over radio, so I loaded up my 1911 and readied myself. It was pure coincidence that Eva slipped into my room. I think back to her last words.

Eva: "Olga... Samantha... sorry..."

That's what Ben said that day, too.

Ben: "Jason... Arnold... sorry..."

I haven't seen Arnold since that day. Hope he's living his life well.

I stand up and get ready for work, shoving the thoughts of last night away. I'll call that enraged mode "Reaper Mode" for now. I'll workshop it. Before I leave, however, I look to the radio situated on my desk.

"Was Eva... your friend?"

No response.

"I thought so."

...

"Sorry, Alpha."

...

"...I'll bring her back first, okay?" I give a weak smile to my mirror, my naturally tanned figure becoming a hint paler.

As I walk to my office, I rub my right wrist and stare down at what is on it.

Ever since that day, I've always kept both dad's wristwatch and mom's necklace on me. Even when I really needed money, I did not sell them. They mean too much to me.

As of late, I decided to start wearing them, just to keep the semblance of them watching over me in mind.

Dad's old wristwatch is a simple thing. Two leather straps that hold the simple analogue watch face made of steel and hardened glass. I had the leather straps replaced once I earned some money in the Navy. Mom's necklace, on the other hand, is a simple golden chain, just now adorned by my engagement ring.

The little things like these keep me sane.

Entering my office, Helena walks up to me, with Bel and Yorkie having a chat before focusing on me.

Helena: "Commander, I still can't believe how I found the intruding Siren last night."

Immediately after the transmission with the Arbiters, Helena found Eva's body and promptly spazzed the fuck out.

"Yeah, I'm surprised, too. Never thought I could do that."

Yorkie: "What did you do?"

"I... may or may not have ripped the Siren in two and consumed her Wisdom Cube."

Yorkie: "..."

Bel, with an exasperated face: "Jason..."

"Look, I didn't even think it was possible!" I shake my head in annoyance. "God damnit, Observer, what the hell did you do to me?"

Helena: "Observer? What about her?"

"Oh, yeah, the gremlin child is trapped in my soul, or something."

Everyone freezes in place for a second.

Yorkie: "How the hell would she end up in your head?"

"Remember when I came back and shot laser beams out of my sword and summoned that magic trident and heal Yorkie by shooting down Siren planes with a pistol and literally killed Yosuke while standing on water? Yeah, Alpha is inside my body, and the BWC she was holding is in my body."
