Falke: "Vergil, you wanna tell me why you were watching my cousin's mom?"
Vergil: "While I was bound to the Yamato, I was able to watch the world's events unfold. Unfortunately, those who I grew an interest in would eventually succumb to death. So I gravitated towards watching the war between Ozpin and Salem, Ms. Rose's mother intrigued me the most since she was Ozpin's main Huntress."
Ruby: "So can she hear us?" Vergil shakes his head.
Vergil: "This is a memory of what I saw. Everything we are about to experience is from an outside point of view."
Ruby: "Why? Why show me this?"
Vergil: "I wish for you to have closure. After hearing how you lost your mother before you got the chance to know her. I felt obligated to give you the ease of mind to at least know what happened to her. Now watch."
They all turned as Summer held up her scroll and began to speak into it.
Summer: "Entry log 17: I managed to reach the destination to find the Maiden from the locals who knew of her whereabouts. Unfortunately, they failed to mention that the 'expanse' they told me about is around 12 to 13 miles in diameter. *sigh* I guess I better get to searching. Side note, I SOUND SO FREAKING COOL! Remind me to thank Qrow later on." Putting her scroll away, she zooms off in a trail of white rose petals.
Vergil: "She seems very...enthusiastic."
Ruby: "That's my mom, alright."
Falke: "What Maiden was she looking for?"
Vergil: "Most likely the Summer Maiden as Ozpin wished to keep his most powerful cards close to his hand. If you catch my meaning, now to save time, I am going to speed up the memory to a more important point."
They watch as Summer and the surrounding area seem to fly by as though they were watching a show and were fast-forwarding through the commercials. Then, slowing down to a regular speed as Summer approached a large cave.
Summer: "I've got a bad feeling about this. There's some pretty bad juju coming from this cave...Whelp!" Happily skipping into the large cave.
Vergil: "Alas. This would be the last time she would be in this world."
Ruby: "So...she did die. At least I know now."
Vergil: "So quick to accept what you're told and not ask questions? I never said she died."
Falke: "What?"
Vergil: "Summer would indeed find something in this cave that would remove her from this world, but not in the way one would think."
The scene quickly changes to inside the cave as Summer makes her way into a large cavern within the cave. Cutting down the last group of Grimm nested within the cavern, she sees a large stone slab along the back wall. The stone structure seems to be carved out of the wall and appears entirely different. It hums with low energy that slightly echoes throughout the now silent cavern.
Summer: "What in the world is this?" Approaching the stone structure, she reaches out, placing her hand on the flat surface.
The stone slab hums louder as red energy begins to form on the structure. Finding her hand stuck to the wall, she struggles as she is eventually enveloped into the wall. The red energy was slowly fading away, leaving no trace of the Huntress.
Ruby: "What?! What happened to her?!"
Falke: "What is that thing?"
Vergil: "That is a Hell Gate. It acts as a door between the mortal realm and the Underworld. They are created by demons who have breached the mortal realm, but they can naturally be made in rare cases. Granted, it is a one-to-a-thousand chance, but as you can see, it can still happen."
Ruby: "So my mom was sent to the Underworld?"
Vergil: "Correct, and has most likely been there this whole time as she cannot create a portal to the mortal realm."
Falke: "But the Yamato can. Which means we have a way to get her back."
Ruby: "Why did you wait until now to tell us this? That was my mom!"
Vergil: "Do not test me, CHILD. The likelihood of a mere human surviving in the depths of hell is slim to none."
Ruby: "But she isn't a mere human. She's Summer Rose, and she's the best Huntress that ever existed, and we're going to get her back. Right, Falke?"
Falke: "Damn right! Even if we have to bring all of hell down with us to get her back. Now, do you still know where this Hell Gate is?"
Vergil: "Of course. Did I not just show you?"
Falke: "Oh...Can we leave now?"
Both of them returning to the party right where they left off, Ruby's hand still on Falke's shoulder.
Ruby: "So, were you serious back there?" Removing her hand from his shoulder.
Falke: "Of course. She practically raised me, and she's like a third mom. In a sense."
Qrow: "And what could my two favorite youngsters be talking about?" Interrupting their conversation, his tie is loosened and his shirt a bit more unkempt.
Falke: "Uhm, Dad? Are you drunk?"
Qrow: "Only slightly, this is still a party after all. Hey Ruby, I just wanted to apologize, we couldn't get Tai here, and I'm pretty certain your mom's looking down at you with a smile on her face." The two look at each other, nodding as they decide to keep Summer being alive a secret.
Vergil: "Actually, Summer never died and is currently trapped in the Underworld and has been there for the past 18 years or so." Both Ruby and Falke's eyes shoot wide upon hearing Vergil tell Qrow this.
Qrow: "Heh heh...wait what?"
Falke: "Haha, look at Vergil trying to be funny. It looks like you've had too much to drink Dad, I think it's time for you to got to sleep."
Qrow: "What, but I only just got here." Falke was pushing him outside the office, luckily convincing his dad that he was, in fact, drunk.
Ten minutes pass, and the father and son walk down the hallway towards Qrow's room. Qrow, having trouble walking straight as Falke walks beside him, making sure to keep his dad standing.
Qrow: "You don't have to hide the truth from me, son. I know what I heard him say. Is she trapped there...in hell?" Falke, taking a minute to come up with a good enough explanation but instead takes a deep breath.
Falke: *sigh* "Vergil showed Ruby and me a point in time where he watched the day Summer 'died'. It turns out on a mission to find the Summer Maiden, and she ended up finding a 'Hell Gate', a fancy term for a gate to hell. She got dragged in and has been there ever since."
Qrow: "And let me guess, you and Ruby are planning on getting her back, aren't you?" Falke nods. "Not without me, your not."
Falke: "Dad, I can't have you coming with us. What if you got hurt, or worse? How would mom feel?"
Qrow: "That's not the point, son." *sigh* "I never told you why I stopped drinking. Well never told you all the reasons anyway. But the biggest was a long time ago when Summer and I completed a mission. We decided to have a couple of drinks to celebrate. I don't remember what happened that night, but all I remember was waking up the next day with a note that said, 'Thanks for the fun night. -Summer'. Nine months later, Ruby was born." Shock ran across Falke's face.
Falke: "Dad. Don't tell me that Ruby is my-"
Qrow: "That's the scariest part, Falke. I don't know. I grew so anxious about not knowing that I decided to quit drinking altogether. I couldn't live with myself if I knew that she was mine, and I would've never known. So please, son, this may be my only chance to ever know from her?"
Falke: "Alright, dad. You can come with us." Qrow pulled Falke into a hug.
Qrow: "Thank you, son."
