Zhou Jintao's Residence
Just like what Jennie had predicted, Jintao really got the files. He kept it a secret even from his own son and his most men. It was a part of his deal with Jennie. She wanted him to keep it a secret. Avoid anyone from knowing what he is up to. For some reason, Jennie thought that someone is spying Jintao.
At first, he thought this was just Jennie being paranoid. She was after all someone in the pinnacle of the business industry, it would be normal for her to be suspicious and paranoid to everyone that she does not trust. However, her words made him more aware, more observant of the people surrounding him.
Because of this, he could see that some of his men tend to be more... curious about his plans. Just like his right-hand man, Wei Chen Yu. While part of him felt that this was just the anxiety that he experienced because of his betrayal, a part of him also knew that he was right. And that these people were his brother's spy all along.
Jintao let out a sigh, he held the USB a little tighter as he closed his computer. Jennie instructed him to delete everything that could tell his brother his true motives. She also told him to use a decoy.
Jennie told him that there was a big possibility of Kang knowing her plan. So they needed something to divert his attention, make him think that Jennie wanted something else. In this case, Jennie wanted to use the illegal activities of the Zhou Corp as the decoy.
"Father?"
Jintao sat up straight as he froze. His heartbeat sped up before he realized that the one who entered his study is his son, Huifang. "Huifang?" he said before heaving a sigh of relief. "Why are you here? Did something happen to your sister?"
"You were so busy... you didn't even know that Lanying was already discharged? She left the hospital this morning." Huifang said as he sat down across his father. "Where were you, father? Lanying wanted to talk to you about something. We ended up arguing again. She refused to listen to me."
"What does she want this time?"
"She wanted to see Jennie so she could thank her for bringing her to the hospital. I called her crazy for wanting to talk to the enemies. We got into an argument and she left angry. I was trying to call her, but she was not answering. Then I tried calling you but you are unavailable too..."
Jintao furrowed his brows before he let out a sigh.
'Enemies'
This was installed in the minds of all members of the Zhou Family since they were born. Lisa's father is the enemy. They were the ones who tried to fight for the family fortune. How could he tell his children that this is not true? That this was all fabricated by the old man?
"I will take care of it." He said while wondering when is the right time to tell his children about what happened in the past.
"How?" Huifang asked a tinge of irritation and impatience laced his eyes. He looked at his father as he remembered what his uncle had told him this morning. Was his father really capable of betraying their family just because he wanted the company?
Huifang watched as his father dialed Lanying's number.
"I told you she won't answer anyone."
"Then let her see Jennie. If she wanted to thank the woman, then let her do it." Jintao's answer made his son speechless.
"Why would you want her to become friends with Jennie? She is an enemy! What if she will use my sister against us? Lanying is vulnerable right now!" Huifang reasoned. After his father's words, he was already certain that Jintao betrayed the Zhou Family. "I don't want Lanying to betray us! She is my sister and the last thing that I want to do is hurt her!"
