"The Kim Group's board meeting is scheduled for tomorrow. Do you plan to attend?" Lisa asked while watching Jennie do paperwork. Jennie wore a frown as she read the report in her hands.

"No. I'm going back to work tomorrow," she answered, her eyes still on the files. "I've been absent for more than a week. I can't neglect my job just because I want to make someone suffer."

"You have been working from here ever since you had your 'accident'. What are you so worried about?"

"President Manoban... Please take note that I am not like you. I have to study every project thoroughly. Numbers make my brain hurt, and the only reason why I'm still motivated to do my job is because I like to see the numbers in my bank account increase. If it weren't for seeing profits rise every time I complete a deal, I would have already run away and let some minion manage the company in my stead." Now that Jennie thought about it, if she were as smart as Lisa, she could actually increase her profits and maybe expand her company faster. With this in mind, she turned her gaze towards Lisa.

"What are you thinking?" he asked when he sensed the peculiarity in Jennie's gaze.

"Do you think... you could give your brain to me?" Jennie asked seriously before shaking her head when she realized that it was impossible. "I'm kidding," she said the moment she saw Lisa opening his mouth to answer her.

"Oh..." Lisa nodded before changing the subject. He was actually considering agreeing to Jennie's request, ah. "Do you think Yifei is still alive?"

"We will know that tomorrow."

"So your plan is to make your father confront Hao at the board meeting while he has the police save Yifei?" Lisa confirmed.

"Hmmm," she nodded. "Did you expect me to just let her die?" She raised her eyes and their gazes met. A tinge of understanding instantly flashed in his eyes as Jennie's lips lifted into a smile.

"No. I knew you would let her suffer, but... it has been three days and I was actually wondering if she's already signed the documents just to end her misery."

"She wouldn't," Jennie said with absolute certainty. "She and I... we are the same - almost the same."

Lisa did not answer Jennie, he merely nodded. Yifei and Jennie were not the same, at least not in the way they chose to deal with their enemies. However, he also understood that Jennie wasn't equally heartless only because of the positive influence of the people who saved her. If she had been saved by someone who didn't have a moral compass, circumstances might have culminated in Jennie becoming a murderer, and then she would have been no better or different than Yifei.

"You know... now that I think about it, Yifei's story is like... those reincarnation novels I used to read where the leads destroy the lives of the seemingly innocent because it turns out that they will harm her in the future. I find her story similar to that, her murderous streak and her habit of involving innocents and their entire families. She thought the Kim Family destroyed her family. I mean... I don't really know the entire story." Jennie shrugged before she continued, "But what if this was all a plot twist in her story? What if she really came from the future? What if she died by my child's hands or even my hands and wanted to end me before it happens so she decided to destroy my family first?"

"Well... I think you have a very vivid imagination, Mrs. Manoban," Lisa said with a laugh. "But I think in Yifei's mind everything that she is doing is the right thing to do. She didn't think about the innocents that she used or had killed. All she thought about was avenging her family. But now that I think about it... what if she is a cultivator from another dimension who came to..."
