Chapter 7

Since that run in with Lance, Kristen had been so miserable. She couldn't get him nor Ethen out of her mind now. All her emotions that she had been running from flooded back along with the pain she felt.

Working a wreck along side Fairmont Fire Departmen. Kristen took off after a speeder that came close to hitting one of the firemen doing traffic control.

"What in the hell were you thinking?" Kristen demanded from the driver. "Did you not see all the red, white a blue flashing, strobing lights? They're not that hard to see as they light up the night for miles."

Holding back as much anger as she could, "So I know damn good and well you saw them. You know how."

She paused, "Let me remind you. The right line was shut down so you had to get in the other lane. So I know you had to have seen them and yet you flow by almost running over a firefighter. So give me one good reason why I shouldn't haul your ass in?"

The driver was stunned at Kristen's tone as he headed over his information

"I'm sorry officer." his voice had a hint of worry.

"Officer! Officer! Do I look like an officer to you?" She barked. "I am a government agent and I should run your ass in..." by then her pager went off.

"Shit." She whispered as she turned her pager down.

Telling the driver to stay put, she walked to the back of his car to hear what was going on in her fire department area.

"Freemont to Dewy Fire Department, we have a report of a woods fire that was caused by a lightning strike from earlier today. It's going to be on Jax Brixton's land." Dispatch came over.

Walking back to the driver, she gave him a stern look that makes any human nervous and scared.

"Ok Mr. Bobby Halten. This is your lucky day. I am going to give you a ticket instead of running your ass in." She started writing down all the information he needed.

"There is a number you must call tomorrow to get more information for your court date." she told him.

"Court date?" Looking at him.

"Yes. You came close to hitting someone. I should take you in." Her tone got firmer.

"I'm not from this state." The driver protested.

"That is not my problem." She gave him the ticket. "Next time, slow down and watch where you're going. If you need help finding this office. That same number will help you." She told him as she handed back all his information.

Clearing herself from the speeder scene. Kristen kept her lights on as she hurried to the fire station. She heard Manny received the page and asked for Mutual aid form Fairstone, Tappen and Belton.

Racing down I-54, Kristen cleared the twelve miles to her station quickly. Along the way she heard Grass 152 go in route and jsut as she reached her exit, Engine 155 went in route.

Pulling in the station just as two members were getting in Brush 153.

"Hang on. It won't take me long!" she shouted to the driver as she hurried tours her locker.

Within seconds Kristen had donned her gear and hurried tours the passenger side of the Brush.

Climbing up into the cab, she saw as Brian Steele, Captain of their department. "Set in the middle." he grumbled as he got out.

Rolling her eyes as she crawled in, she froze the moment she caught scent of a hint of nervousness coming from Manny.

Not want to make the situation any more uncomfortable for Manny.
