Chapter Twenty-Seven

Chapter 27

Before Amber left, she reminded Kristen that she wasn't alone if she wanted to talke about Jax. Not only doesn't she have Marlena but she has her too. Giving her old friend a hug, Kristen thank you for all she had done for her and her pack and that she truely enjoyed the visit and keeping her secret.

The day wasn't to bad. Kristen had a few speeders she gave tickets to. Done a vehicle search and found some marijuana and some black ice. She had her camra recording as no one came to back her up being that the local officers are still pissed. She didn't need a drug dog anyways, but she had to put the guy in the back of her car and take him to the county jail.

Since Jax and Seth were out hunting the wolf that had killed their brother Brydon. Kristen decided that only she and Dallas would be the only one patrolling right now. What was getting on her nerves was that Jax didn't tell her what the wolf looked like. So she's hopen that neither one of them were close to their color.

"Kristen?" She heard Dallas in her head.

"What is it?"

"We have a structure fire with kids trapped inside." He told her as he wasn't sure if she wanted him to go or keep patrolling. "Emily just told me." he added.

Getting to her feet, "Where?" Giving her the address she hurried towards the burning house knowing that she could get there faster in her wolf form then going home and getting dressed.

"Go ahead and take my truck to the station. When you get there, grab my gear and bring it with you. I'll go on ahead, I can get there faster this way. I'll meet everyone at the house." she told him as she started towards the address.

"Emily. You stay at the house. If you smell or even sense that something is wrong. You let me know right then." She hated to but she used her Alpha tone to make sure she listened this time.

"Yes Alpha Kristen." There was a lot of hurt in Emily's tone.

Knowing that there were prescious moments racing by, Kristen put her nose in the air and took in several deep, deep breaths. Locking onto the scent of the smoke she took off, pushing herself as hard as she could and kicking up dirt behind her.

Seeing the fire coming into site, she got lucky on the way as she found some clothes drying out on a clothes line. Droping them from her mouth she quickly shifted into her human form and started dressing. They were a little big but nothing she couldn't handle.

The fire department is on the way. Is there anyone in the house?" Kristen asked knowing there were kids inside but wanted to make sure there was no one else.

"MY KIDS! MY KIDS ARE STILL IN THERE!" a woman paniced. "My babies are in their rooms!"

"What part of the house is their rooms in?" Kristen pointed towards the house.

The woman pointed towards the area of the fire, "The two back rooms! Please! Help them!" she cried.

"What are their names?""Ashley and Brat!" The woman told her.

Quickly looking over the house, Kristen looked back and saw two guys. "You two!" she pointed at them, "Keep your eyes on these windows!" Seeing them nod, she took off inside the burning inferno.

Crawling on the floor, she could feel that the fire was burning hot, the smoke was starting to burn her eyes as the heat was searing her nostrils. The flames were rolling across the ceiling as she was making her way deeper inside.

The heart of the fire was in the hall. The flames were all around her as she had to came to a stop. Looking around she had no choice but to jump through the flames. Knowing if she stood up the heat will be unbearable but she couldn't crawl any further.
