Chapter Thirty-One

Chapter 31

For the past two days Jax as been running a high fever from the wounds he had recieved from his father's Buck Knife. His body my have had silver in it when he was born but the rest of the mixture was still toxic.

Both her brother's had left a few hours after they found out about Jax. Dedrick ordered Ethen the get back to his pack as well as Lance who was now on his shit list. Pissed at Ethen for not telling him what he was doing and Lance for not coming back to him once he had left Kristen's pack.

The only help Kristen had now was a handful of Marlena's pack. She knew that they would have to leave soon as well because Marlena had to get back to do damage contral with the family.

By the third day, Kristen was feeling better. She knew she had to start shifting to loosen up her muscle. That was the only time she left Jax's side was so that he wouldn't hear her cry out from the pain of shifting into her wolf form.

During the days Kristen was recovering, there hadn't been much attation with Alpha Taten's pack. A few small fights here and there but then stopped. Seeing that she had help, they laid low, the calm before the storm as she knew she had to be ready for it.

"Do you want something from the kitchen?" Kristen heard her sister asked.

With everything going on, Kristen hasn't been eating really all that much. She wasn't really hungry and she wasn't forcing herself to eat like she should to regain her straight.

"Kristen?" Marlena's voice was soft, "I know you're scared for him, you have the right, but you won't be doing any good for him if you don't eat something."

Kristen was in her wolf form laying beside Jax. Sighing heavily, she gently got up and made her way towards the hall. Still painfull, she shifted back into her human form and put the clothes she had laying on the floor back on.

Sitting at the table, sipping the herbal tea her sister made and eating something fulfilling, she noticed a smile on Marlena as she watched her nitpick the food in front of her. "You know he would want to be alone with you when he wakes up." her smiled warmed up even more.

"The way you two are around each other, you need to complete the mating by changing him or at least mate with him. I can sense that you two are already making the commitment, it is already strong."

Shaking her head, "He is a human. His body may not take my venom when I bite him." She was so tired of explain it over and over again.

"You know he'll want you to change him. There is no doubt about it. Like you said, he's human and humans age. You know in a few years he will soon look like he's your father and not your mate and after so long he will..." Marlena didn't finished as she knew it would be to upsetting.

"I know, I know. You don't think I hadn't thought about that." Kristen rubbed her face as she pushed what she didn't finish eating to the side.

"I'm not ready to take that chance on changing him. I don't want to kill him if his body fights it off. I won't be able to live with myself it I do." She was holding back the tears that wanted to come out.

"I'm even afraid to..." Kristen could feel her cheeks started to warm.

Smiling, Marlena commented, "I know he's not your first. Nor is he your first human. You just have to follow your hear. You two are soul mates, think about it. Why would it be if you change him so he could be with you that he would die. I would understand it better if you two weren't and you want to change him."

Understanding Marlena went on, "Jax would understand everything you are feeling and going through if you just talk to him. Take that first step, talk to him. You don't have to change him right away, but you will need to soon. Right now just have fun and enjoy each other."
