Chapter 35

Not caring who was around, Kristen changed back into her human form and pulled Jax body to her. Tears fell as she rested his head in her lap. His eyes moved to look at her and she knew he was struggling to breath.

"This is not how I wanted to change you." She whispered, "But to save you, I must."

Leaning down, she didn't smell any of Taten's venom in him which was great as she wanted just hers to be in him. Managing to get all of Taten's blood off from around her mouth, she let her teeth come out.

Tasting the copper taste in her mouth, she leaned down and sank her canine teeth deep into the side of his neck where she could.

Making sure her venom and blood was mix well in his blood, she released him. Licking the bite closed, she looked into his eyes. She could see that he was slowly starting to fade.

"Stay with me Jax." She cried as she held him closer. "Stay with me my love."

The battle had soon came to a stop after Kristen had killed Taten. She was right. The ones that didn't want to fight but was under orders had stopped. The ones that kept going, they took care of them. Dallas even took care of the Beta.

"Kristen?" her sister's voice was soft and comforting, but it didn't work.

"I bit him so that he could change. Why isn't it working? There is no signs that my venom is even in him. I know I put plenty of it in him. Is there a certain way of doing it? I followed my instincts." Kristen cried as she saw Jax eyes turn lifeless.

"NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!!!" she roared.

A rush of pain flood over her as her heart shattered. She held him tight against her as her crying howls of pain and sorrow filled the air.

Her pack, along with the others an even the normal wolves around her howled with her.

With tears streaming down her face, Kristen held her mates body as close as she could. "Why can I not have any happiness?" She cried softly. "The only great thing that brought me that happiness back is now gone."

Marlena sat beside her baby sister while Dedrick and the others took care of the dead, wounded and the afraid. Now that the Alpha and Beta, the ones that really didn't want to fight were afraid that they would be killed.

"Kristen." Marlena's soft voice came into her head.

Not saying a word, Kristen just cried softly as she held her mate. Then she heard something, she heard a fate heartbeat.

With new hope, Kristen relaxed her hold on Jax so that she could look him over. She noticed that the whole in his neck was still there but it was slowly starting to close. "We need to get him to the house. Do you have anything that will help with this?" She asked her sister as she pointed to his neck.

Marlena nodded as she raised towards the house.

Kristen quickly got to her feet, "Help me with him." She looked over at her brother Dedrick. He quickly shifted and carefully picked Jax up.

Reaching the house, they took him back to his bed. The smell of their love making still lingered but Marlena knew this was the time to pick her little sister, but if this was a different situation, she would have commented.

"He'll have a scar as it will take the skin a good while to grow back." Marlena told her as she looked in her bag for the extra herbs she had brought.

While Marlena was doing that, Kristen grabbed them some clothes and thanked Dedrick for his help.

"This will help clean out whatever stuff was on Taten's claws as well as help it heal with hopefuly little pain." Marlena explain as she put the paste on.

"How long will it take?"

Shrugging, "I'm not sure. It is different for everyone."

"Kristen. May I have a word with you?" Dallas asked from the door.

Looking down at Jax, she heard, "Go. I'll watch over him until you get back."

Sighing she gave him a kiss before walking over towards the door where Dallas led her out to the living room.

"We have rounded up all of Taten's pack that were afraid and newly turned. The ones that still wanted to were killed the rest ran off." He informed her.

"We pilled up the bodies and marked the lands where alot went down so the blackout team could take care of it. Dedrick also called the Royal Clean up team and they'll be flying in.

The Waco team made it and we were able to keep the fights away from the fire and towns. The wounded are being taking care of by some of the Waco members. They are asking for mercy."

"What about us? How are my brothers and you?" Kristen asked looking him over.

She could feel them hurting in their fights as she felt that Britten arrived and started helping.

"We have some bites but the Waco pack lost a few members, they're calling in to bring a truck to carry their dead back. Our young ones made it there without running into any members. They are still there until you order them back."

Feeling that there was more that he wanted to tell her, she asked, "Is that all?"

Taking a deep breath, "No. There are some of Alpha Taten's pack members manly newly turned that wants to join us. They will understand if you refuse."

Kristen couldn't help but look down the hall. She has already been gone to long. Feeling her pain, "I'm sorry that you had to change Jax that way. I knew you didn't have a choice." He drew her attention back to him.

Then he added, "I also understand if you put him as your Bate when he gets better. He has some damn good fighting skills as well as leadership skills. I know that is what you are looking for in a Bata."

Smiling, she put a hand on his shoulder, "Thank you but I already have a damn good Beta. Unless you disobay me or decided to leave the pack or take a challenge for your spot, you will always be my Beta.

Jax may be my soul mate and I will listen to what he has to say and get his opinion on things but it will also have to be ran by you and you have to agree too.

You earned your spots. So don't think that my mate is going to run you out of it. Right now he may think he knows alot about us but now he is has a lot to learn on being a werewolf."

She looked back down the hall and listened for any sign of him waking up. Hearing nothing she added, "As for the ones that wants to join my pack. I will take you at your word on if they will make it or not. Study them make the right choice, not the fact we fought them but really get the feel of them." She tried to teach him.

"Like you did us." Dallas remembered how she looked at them when they first met.

She smiled, "Yes. Now go. Do what you think is right. Don't second guess yourself. I have to stay with my mate."
